ACTED’s vocation is to support vulnerable populations affected by wars, natural disasters and/or economic and social crises, and to accompany them in building a better future. ACTED started its activities in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) in May 2007. ACTED is currently implementing projects covering multiple humanitarian / development sectors, funded by of a variety of international donors, which aim at protecting vulnerable households and strengthening civil society actors across the oPt. ACTED oPt offers a dynamic, rigorous and knowledge-orientated working environment.

ACTED strives to strengthen the economic capacities of communities, consolidate civil society organisations, and provide emergency assistance to the most vulnerable, rural communities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. ACTED currently seeks an Access and Safety Assistant for its humanitarian operations in Gaza.

III-Position Profile
The Access and Safety Assistant will support the Country Security Manager (CSM) and Country Security Officer (CSO) in their daily tasks. Under the guidance of CSM / CSO, the Access and Safety Assistant will:
- Contribute to the daily monitoring of security incidents in Gaza, and to compiling these incidents into a daily report, and storing these in a security database
- Assisting with the preparation for field visits, including engaging with local stakeholders such as site-level community leaders to ensure safety assurances for our teams
- Ensuring movements in Gaza adhere to notification and coordination systems, and that all movements comply with the Movement SOP
- Accompany field movements to provide in situ support to programme colleagues moving into unfamiliar locations, or new sites, during periods of heightened risks
- Provide regular safety and security briefings to colleagues, utilising detailed local knowledge and context, including weekly meetings and new staff briefings
- Act as a local liaison for community leaders that Acted may need to interact with to enable our humanitarian operations
- Ad hoc incident management support, including outside of working hours where critical situations emerge
- Establish and maintain a local network with humanitarian counterparts to ensure Acted staff are up to date on the latest contextual developments that may impact their safety or security, providing live alerts to the CSO or CSM when new risks are identified
- Assist in the drafting of monthly security reports and documents as requested
- Liaise with the logistics department to ensure Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) compliance at Gaza level

IV-Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in any relevant field.
- Strong knowledge of the local context
- At least 1 year of experience in the humanitarian and/or international organization (strongly preferred)
- Experience in contingency planning, and experience in emergency simulations will be considered an advantage
- Previous experience providing training and making presentations (preferred)
- Excellent computer skills (office applications) (preferred)
- Working knowledge of written and spoken English is required (and will be assessed via interview)
- Ability to work and communicate efficiently in English (verbally and in writing) is a pre-requisite.
