AAhil Arab Hospital (AAH) is a local health not for profit organization, providing health care for all Gaza residents. Further, AAH implements several health projects to support marginalized communities in particular women and children. AAH operates according to principles of strict neutrality, political and religious impartiality, and non-discrimination.
Ahli Arab Hospital is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of Project Accountant for a USAID funded project spanning a total of 12 months period at the first stage (extendable). The Project Accountant will provide overall support for the project to maintain its financial records in compliance with all USAID, IMC, and AAH professional requirements. Perform all project and operating expense accounting for the project and process financial documentation.
Key responsibilities for this position will be as follows:
- Ensures the timely and accurate preparation of all project and operating expense accounting reports and ensures that all reporting requirements are met.
- Manage the project financial transaction, financial reporting, accounting, and donor compliance issues related to project implementation.
- Monitor budget vs. expenditures, manage cash flow and provide recommendations for Project Manager.
- Prepare budgeting reports (for the project and for each activity)
- Prepare (monthly, quarterly and annual) cost forecasts
- Assisting in month-end and year-end closing
- Perform professional accounting work which includes analysis of financial transactions.
- Prepare and record documented accounts entries.
- Provide timely and accurate posting of program and operating expenditure financial transactions in the financial system of AAH
- Verifies that all transactions posted to the financial system are in conformance with the USADI, AAH and IMC Framework.
- Work with fixed asset and inventory accounting.
- Prepare and deliver monthly payroll for all project staff
- Ensure that AAH and USAID policies and procedures for procurement of goods and services are followed.
- Responsible for cost accounting and bank reconciliations.
- Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Comply with analysis standards and resolve general ledger issues.
- Communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university.
- USAID/UN/World Bank accounting experience or previous employment on a USAID-funded project is preferred.
- 3-5 years of related accounting/finance experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to write professional reports and business correspondence in English.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the Chief Accountant, project manager, clients, and other related groups.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Excellent knowledge of different electronic accounts system, excel, MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines and work under pressure on own initiative with minimum supervision
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic.
