Job Opportunity
The USAID-funded Palestinian Health Sector Development and Reform Project(the Flagship Project) is a five-year project funded by USAID and implemented by
Chemonics International Inc. to support the Palestinian Ministry of Health and other
key non-governmental health providers in developing a vibrant, sustainable, and
efficient health system to improve the quality of life for the Palestinian people. The
Flagship Project is currently recruiting highly motivated professionals specializing in
the following area:
Accountant (Long-term)
Tasks and Responsibilities :-Ensure all supporting documentation and approvals are present for payments.
-Maintains copies of all receipts for costs.
-Facilitates provision of information and documentation during audits.
-Review expense reports.
-Process purchase request/orders for all non-procurement transactions.
-Process petty cash transactions.
-Enter all non-procurement accounting transactions into the accounting software.
-Process payroll each month and prepare the salary receipt/payroll form.
-Prepare bank reconciliations.
-Administer blank checks for all non-procurement transactions and prepare check for signatory to sign.
-Issue all non-procurement payments with wire transfer.
-Monitor and clear project receivables, monitor and clear project payables and maintain accounting records and files.
-Liaise with income tax authority and remit employee withholdings on a monthly basis.
-Liaise with pension authority and process employee withholding and employer contribution.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Contracts and the Operations Director to achieve Flagship Project’s goals and objectives.
Qualifications for Accountant:
-A degree in accounting, business or commerce.
-Strong knowledge and understanding of USAID regulations.
-A minimum of two years experience in booking and accounting support.
-Experience working with NGOs in a financial capacity.
-Training or mentoring experience in an individual or group setting is a bonus.
-Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and preparation of graphs, tables, charts with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and QuickBooks is necessary.
-Professional level English and Arabic language skills.
