Accountant
Position Purpose:
The accountant will be responsible for all daily financial transactions, such as data entries, payments, bank reconciliations etc. to ensure smooth implementation of all projects and APLA financial transactions according to the accounting financial standards, APLA laws and rules, and Palestinian related laws.
APLA Background:
Founded in 1997, APLA is an independent organization mandated to represent and lobby for the collective interests of Local Government Units (LGUs) by supporting capacity building among local governments, facilitating exchange of knowledge and best practices, and serving as vehicle for dialogue between the central government and LGUs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data entry for all transaction using Bisan system.
- Reviewing the projects payment requests to be submitted to Financial and Administrative Manager for issuing the payments.
- Preparing APLA general payment requests.
- Preparing the approval payments requests for all expenses.
- Preparing the payments (bank transfers and checks).
- Following up the issuing payments from the banks.
- Archiving all payments and financial documents.
- Preparing a monthly report to the Financial and Administrative Manager.
- Preparing Bank reconciliations.
- Review and tracking the petty cash.
- Participating in procurement process upon the Financial and Administrative Manager request.
- Assisting the Financial and Administrative Manager in preparing the financial reports.
- Participating in the AUDIT process upon Financial and Administrative Manager Request.
- Tracking LGU and VC membership in Bisan system.
- Any other tasks upon Financial and Administrative Manager request.
Reporting requirements:
- The accountant will work in APLA’s office in Ramallah.
- The accountant will report on a day-to-day basis to the Financial and Administrative Manager of APLA.

Minimum qualifications:
- • Minimum a Bachelor degree in accounting.
• At least 2 years proven working experience in NGO’s, Semi-Governmental Organization, or any related Fields.
Skills:
- Knowledge of Ms. Office (word, excel, power point, outlook, good background in archiving).
- Excellent knowledge in using accounting systems, preferred BISAN System.
- Fluent in both Arabic and English.
- Knowledge in the International accounting standards, local Palestinian tax laws and regulations.
- Good Knowledge in the donors’ regulations.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to conduct multi-tasks and prioritize work.
- Good communication skills.
Contract Period: One year, with possibility of extension.
