Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) is a local NGO, established in 1992 in Gaza City, in order to help persons with hearing disability in the Gaza Strip to have their chance in life through education, rehabilitation, and job training and employment opportunities.  From its establishment as a small school for the students with hearing disability serving 27 pupils in 1992, Atfaluna now serves more than 40,000 persons with and without disabilities annually through a multitude of interventions and training programs implemented within a holistic and right-based and inclusive approaches involving children and adults with without disabilities, their families, service providers organizations, and the community-at-large.

Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children, located in Middle area or South Gaza, is inviting applications from qualified persons for the post of hiring Accountant

Job Purpose:

The accountant  will be responsible for managing the financial records of Atfaluna, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and donor requirements. This role involves maintaining financial documentation, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and supporting the overall financial management of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, receipts, invoices, and other documentation.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and other financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and budget reports.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Assist in audits by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.
  • Keep up to date with changes in financial regulations and ensure the organization’s practices are compliant.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets.
  • Track expenses against budgets and provide variance reports.
  • Process payroll and ensure all employee payments are made accurately and on time.
  • Maintain payroll records and handle related queries.
  • Prepare financial reports for donors as per their requirements.
  • Ensure donor funds are utilized in compliance with agreements and restrictions.
  • Use accounting software to manage financial transactions and reports.
  • Suggest improvements to financial systems and processes.
  • Provide financial support and guidance to projects teams.
  • Assist in the financial aspects of project proposals and reports.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
