Accountant
The YWCA of Jerusalem located in Sheikh Jarrah, East Jerusalem, is a membership-based women organization registered locally as a non-governmental organization. The YWCA works under four main thematic areas: Women's Economic Development, Women’s Rights Programs, Youth Leadership, Training and Civic Engagement as well as Children Education and Cognitive Learning.
YWCA of Jerusalem is seeking highly qualified candidates for the following position:
Position Title: Accountant
Contract Period: 12 months contract, with possibility of extension(s)
Reports to: Head of Finance
Location: Jerusalem
Status: Full time
Responsibilities:
- Record accounting transactions into the accounting system (BISAN) and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.
- Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Assist in preparing special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules according to close schedule.
- Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures.
- Prepare reconciliation for the projects.
- Prepare monthly bank and cash reconciliations.
- Assist with analyzing financial reports on a monthly basis and report on variance.
- Prepare payroll sheet and related tax deductions.
- Prepare the necessary financial reports and updates to be submitted to donors.
- Ensure full support documentation for all transactions and in compliance with the institution’s and donor's policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required by the Head of Finance or General Director.

- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- A Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Finance or accounting experience
- Advanced accounting and financial reporting skills and knowledge
- Practical knowledge of budgeting and budget control mechanisms
- Efficient uses of accounting databases and Information Technology effectively as a tool and resource
- Strong understanding of accounting theories.
- Self-driven, with potential of producing personal plans and prioritizing tasks to ensure quality and timely results that meet established goals
- Prior experience working with donor-funded projects/programs
- Familiar with Donor and yearly Audit Procedures
- Good organizational; effective communication skills, both verbal and written skills, including an ability to comfortably interact with high clients Excellent oral and written English (Arabic and/or Hebrew an advantage).
- Familiar with Israeli Laws.
- Seeks and applies knowledge, information, and management best practices from within and outside YWCA of Jerusalem
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from direct supervisor to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external Parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
