ADHD Social Worker
Introduction
Princess Basma Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Children with Disabilities was inaugurated in Jerusalem in 1965, since then till current; it is considered a main centre to provide the comprehensive services for the children with disabilities coming from all over West Bank and Jerusalem governorates.
The need for increased knowledge of practitioners and service providers about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD), and best practices in terms of education and treatment of children with ASD and ADHD has been highlighted in recent years. The Princess Basma Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Children with Disabilities (PBRC), which specializes in the rehabilitation of Palestinian children with disabilities, has taken on a central role in the treatment of ASD and ADHD among rehabilitation centres as a result of actively developing their knowledge and expertise in this area.
Context
Over the past four years, in partnership with Diakonia through an EU funded project, PBRC has focused on autism and established itself as a national centre that treats children with autism in East Jerusalem and West Bank and provides them an opportunity for inclusive education.
Phase II of the project funded by the EU and also in Partnership with the Diakonia intends to increase the access of Palestinian children with ASD and ADHD to rehabilitation and inclusive education in East Jerusalem, by strengthening the capacities of the staff of PBRC through comprehensive capacity building of its own educational and rehabilitation staff and continue providing the rehabilitation services for the children with ASD and ADHD.
The project (People with disabilities “Pwds” in East Jerusalem enjoy improved living conditions – PHASE II) aims to continue to promote and contribute to increased realization of the rights and entitlements of adults and children with disabilities from East Jerusalem.
This project targets the People with disabilities residing in East Jerusalem and children and parents of children with ASD and ADHD in Jerusalem. The duration of the project is three years starting from 1 January 2015 until 31 December 2017.
During the project, Princess Basma Centre intends to recruit the following:-
Job Title: - ADHD Social Worker
-A Bachelor degree in Social Work, psychology, sociology or any related field.
-License to practice
-At least 2 years of experience working with children with ADHD.
-The ability to conduct interviews, assess and review situations.
-The ability to undertake and write up assessments (sometimes in collaboration with other professionals), which meet specified standards and timescales.
-The ability to offer information and support children and their families.
-Excellent communication skills
-Excellent observation skills
-Ability to work under pressure
-Thorough knowledge on children’s rights & rights of people with disabilities
-Ability to work in a team
-Ability to manage different and multiple tasks and to deliver in a short period of time.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
