Administrative & Finance Assistant
Job Description
WHO is seeking to recruit an Administrative & Finance Assistant for its Palestinian operations in West Bank and Gaza to be based in the Jerusalem Office.
The WHO office for West Bank and Gaza works closely with the Ministry of Health to improve health services, to ensure that essential health needs are met and to coordinate support to the health sector. Under the direct supervision of the Administrative & Finance Officer of the West Bank and
Gaza office, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Description of duties:
-Prepare payments and ensure reflection of payments in the ERP software.
-Prepare monthly closing and reconciliations.
-Manage and control petty cash.
-Prepare financial information, including budgets, reporting and analysis.
-Liaise with local banks.
-Initiate office purchase orders and follow up on the implementation.
-Provide advice to staff on WHO rules, regulations and procedures.
-Collaborate with and support other staff members, including those in the Gaza sub-office.
-Coordinate with the Regional Office on administrative and financial issues.
Qualifications required:
-BA in business administration, preferably in finance or accounting.
-Excellent financial and numeric skills, with high attention to detail.
-Good communication and interpersonal skills.
-Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel.
-Good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
-At least five to seven years of administrative and financial experience, preferably within the UN system or other similar international organizations.
-Managerial and supervisory experience desirable.
-Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic. Knowledge of Hebrew is an asset.
Duration of contract: The initial period of recruitment would be for one year, with the possibility
of extension. The grade is GS6.
