Job Description

Dar Yusuf Nasri Jacir for Art and Research is a space for art, education and research. The center will host and organize art exhibitions, workshops, master classes, seminars, and a residency program to host local and international artists, researchers, musicians, and filmmakers. In addition, the center will be devoted to cultural, and educational activities in collaboration with local communities and other centers in the Bethlehem area and from there outwards to the rest Palestine.

Dar Yusuf Nasri Jacir for Art and Research Center through the Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the position of Part-time Administrative and financial Assistant to work at the center in Bethlehem. This position is funded through the “Visual Arts: A Flourishing Field” (VAFF) project, an A. M. Qattan Foundation project funded by the Consulate General of Sweden represented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The description of this position is as follows:

16 - month contract with possible extension

Job Objectives:

Efficiently contributing to development and delivery of financial reports and accounting, and coordinating all administrative aspects.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Provide logistical and administrative support in events organized by Dar Jacir.
Coordinate, implement and follow up all projects and events planned in full coordination with the Director, relevant staff and partners.
Maintain the center’s files.
Maintain accounting ledgers for all petty cash transactions.
Maintain accounting ledgers for all bank transactions.
Maintain an assets book detailing all assets purchased or donated.
Regular submission of financial report together with all supporting documents and invoices.
Regular and detailed financial account reporting of the expenditures.
Prepare periodic salary payments to staff and maintain a salary ledger.
Maintain a ledger of payables and another ledger of receivables.
Assist the procurement process with the staff in all phases and maintain the procurement files.
To prepare a monthly financial statement summarizing the activities of the entire month.
Submit all reports to Director and IPS’s team for approval.
Other financial and administrative tasks as required by the Director.
Responsible for the reporting, auditing and financial requirements of third party donors and to be able to attend to these requirements on a regular and timely basis.

Job Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

Minimum bachelor daegree in Accounting.
At least 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably working as an accountant in an art/cultural institution or other business environment such as NGO’s.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English. (Spanish is a plus).
Ability to write narratives & financial reports in accordance with requirements and templates of donors and other third-party institutions.
Excellent knowledge and command of computer MAC systems as well as Microsoft office programs: MS office, MS Project, Excel functions and PowerPoint.
Advanced communications skills, good networking and teamwork abilities.
Excellent time management skills with attention to details.
Occasionally, flexible work hours are required to accommodate evening and weekend activities.
