Advocacy and Communications Coordinator

Job Description

ActionAid is an international organisation, working with over 25 million people in more than 40 countries for a world free from poverty and injustice. ActionAid Palestine is a part of the ActionAid International Federation and ActionAid Australia.

ActionAid is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of Advocacy and Communications Coordinator for 12 months period (extendable). 

The post location is Hebron.

Start Date: immediately.

The key responsibilities for this position will be as follows:
-Coordinate advocacy and policy work to achieve the outcomes identified in ActionAid Palestine’s (AAP) Country Strategy Paper
-Initiate and encourage the development of appropriate research in order to provide the evidence base for both programme work and policy/advocacy and disseminate the findings
-Develop communication and media advocacy strategies to help achievement of AAP objectives in collaboration with the International Advocacy, and Communications Advisors, Programmes Manager and Country Director.
-Contribute to the design of and implement a dynamic information and communication strategy, ensuring all parts of the organization are engaged and informed, and that key change objectives and priorities are communicated effectively internally and externally.
-Maintain external relations with a diverse range of stakeholders in the sector including the national government, key national and international NGOs, donors, academics, CBOs, media and other relevant institutions
-Develop case studies, stories of change, photographs etc which can be used by fundraisers to demonstrate the work of AAP or the needs communities

Eligible applicants are required to have the following qualifications and skills:
-A degree in Social Science, Journalism or related degree
-A minimum of three years’ experience of working in similar position
-Knowledge of approaches for advocacy work, including effective messages, audiences and delivery methods, which aim to inspire and motivate people to take action
-Creative communications – ability to tell stories in unique ways that resonate with different audiences.
-Knowledge of digital engagement and use of the internet as an advocacy tool
-Demonstrable experience of planning and executing advocacy actions aimed at engaging the public and influencing decision makers
-Experience of writing and designing public actions and materials, using both online and print approaches
-Excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to translate complicated ideas into clear messages, and the ability to sell ideas, influence and persuade at all levels and across cultures
-A proven commitment to team work and strong collaborative skills
-Good computer skills and ability to use Microsoft programmes (Photoshop, design and video editing software a plus)
-Organization skills - to organize work, prepare plans and create monthly reports.
