Vacancy Announcement - Call for Applicants International Advocacy and Media Officer

Role Purpose:
The International Advocacy and Media and Officer implements and develops BADIL’s outreach and alliance building by providing information tools and services to local and international audiences, including UN bodies and agencies and partners and target groups. S/he works within BADIL's International and Legal Advocacy Unit.
Key responsibilities:
Production and promotion of BADIL's English and Arabic-language advocacy tools, including submissions, statements, factsheets, position papers, press releases, training materials, power point presentations, brochures, and briefs;
Production and promotion of BADIL’s English-language quarterly al-Majdal including drafting of editorial plans, coordination with authors, writing, translating and editing;
Promotion of BADIL information and resources through electronic information gathering and dissemination, media outreach and participation in local and international events.
Coordination and implementation of activities of BADIL's Ongoing Nakba Education including briefings, workshops and guided tours for visitors;
Coordination with media outlets (TV, radio and television networks, alternative online outlets) for the coverage and promotion of BADIL’s activities, campaigns, and publications.
Monitoring, documentation and reporting of progress and results derived from activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum BA in international public law, or international humanitarian law and/or human rights law. Applicants who have international relations or Media certificate may apply; however, they must show very good knowledge in human rights law and strong experience in UN mechanisms.
At least 2 years of practical experience with similar work;
Sound knowledge and understanding of history and politics of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and relevant international law;
Familiarity with human rights and UN agencies mechanisms, relevant organizations, international coalitions, networks, media and information outlets operating in Palestine and abroad;
Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills (in both English and Arabic)
Preference shall be given to candidates that: are residents of the Bethlehem governorate; Arabic natives and female candidates with equal or higher qualifications.
