Save the Children is seeking qualified candidate to fulfill the following vacancy in its Gaza Office:
    
Advocacy, Media, and Communications Officer - Position#: (AMC/GZ/2015)

The Advocacy, Media, and Communications Officer will support SCI oPt CO advocacy, media, and communications needs and  reporting requirements related to the programming and the emergency response activities;  support the Advocacy, Media, and Communications Sr. Manager; and works in close coordination with the Advocacy, Media, and Communications Manager.

Main Responsibilities:
Key Area 1:  Advocacy
-Identify policy and practice change, on the basis of Save the Children’s experience, that would promote and protect the rights of children in the oPt.
-Together with program staff, and based on field priorities, formulate key advocacy messages and targets from lessons learned, assessments, research and evidence gained through project implementation.
-Ensure that voices of children form the basis of SC’s advocacy strategy.

Key Area 2: Media and Communications Information
-Develop high-quality communications materials in English and Arabic to reflect the situation of children in the oPt, for use in programme activities, fundraising and advocacy.
-Develop and follow the implementation of communications and visibility plans for all projects in Gaza, taking the lead where designated.
-Prepare request of quotations and tenders for communication material according to the procedures set in the Procurement Management Guide, under the supervision of the Sr. Manager Advocacy, Media, and Communications
-Ensure the quality of all communication material and awareness raising material produced and distributed by SCI for the projects; audio-visual and print.
-Provide written, verbal and photographic updates on the situation, as needed, to support media and advocacy work.
-Work with program staff to develop and implement a production and distribution plan of all awareness raising material that will be produced within the project activities.
-Support development of communications materials around special reports or project reports
-Facilitate oPt website development and content, as requested
-Support development and implementation of an Advocacy, Media, and Communications Strategy

Key Area 3: Research and Documentation
-Conduct regular interviews and/or focus groups with children and families reached by the SCI and other interventions
-Write short stories, case studies and photo stories on the ways in which the emergency is affecting children’s lives (using quotes from children – giving voice to children)
-Write short stories and/or case studies on other topics, in line with documentation, comms, and advocacy strategies.
-Support the writing of  regular Sitreps summarizing the situation, as necessary
-Ensure Child/Parent consent forms procedures (Child Safeguarding) are followed

Key Area 4: Branding and Visibility
-Support all Gaza projects visibility and branding needs and requirements.

Key Area 5: Program Development and Emergencies
In the event of an emergency, support the implementation of the Save the Children Emergency Response.

Qualifications and Experience:
-University degree in Social Sciences: Journalism & Media, Business Administration, Literature or any related field.
-At least 2 years of similar experience in a recognized local or international NGO.
-Fluent in English and Arabic (spoken and written).
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
-Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
-Ability to conduct interviews with children and families and to record primary statements.
-Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives.
-Previous Experience in communications and design is an advantage.
