The East Jerusalem YMCA -Women’s Training Program is partnering with DanChurch Aid in the implementation of a project on Inheritance Denied II: Promoting Palestinian’s women’s social and economic rights through access to inheritance. This project is for three years, and is funded by the European Commission.
EJ-YMCA is seeking to recruit an advocacy officer to act as the focal point for the national advocacy campaign on women's inheritance right and follow up on related initiatives.
Overall Responsibilities:
The Advocacy officer will be responsible to:
-Lead the campaign design with relevant stakeholders.
-Initiate agreements with potential CBOs and media to act as campaign leaders and focal points of the campaign in their areas.
-Build alliance with stakeholders/duty bearers.
-Develop materials (brochures, posters, media materials, handouts, etc.) for the national advocacy campaign.
-Lead the Implementation of all actions related to the national campaign.
-Submit updates for the website, as well as monthly updates/stories/statistics for Review.
-Coordinate with partner advocacy coordinator in Gaza.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
-Degree in Communication, political science, social science mass media, or related field.
-Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in leading advocacy campaigns.
-Excellent communication skills and ability to share skills, information and knowledge with others.
-Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
-Familiar with and accommodate the Palestinian context..
-Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications is needed.
-Ability to work independently, but in strong coordination with others.
-Experience in capacity building and training of advocacy techniques.
