Advocacy Officer
BACKGROUND
EcoPalestine Charitable Society for Environmental and Water Projects is non-governmental organization registered in the Palestinian Ministry of Interior. EcoPalestine is the Palestinian affiliate of EcoPeace Middle East, a unique organization that brings together Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli environmentalists. Our primary objective is the promotion of cooperative efforts to protect our shared environmental heritage and create the conditions for sustainable development and peace in our region.
Job Purpose: The Advocacy Officer is expected to support advancing EcoPeace Middle East organization's advocacy objectives at large and strengthening its network and influence on a strategic level with the various relevant stakeholders.
Report to: External Affairs and Government Relations Officer
Workstation: Ramallah, Palestine
General duties:
- Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive research to feed into the EcoPeace ME advocacy cases, document advocacy efforts made, and issue timely follow up mechanisms.
- Document key findings and follow up mechanisms for relevant advocacy files.
- Review and document national and regional development in the field of water, sanitation and energy sectors, as well as the larger context of geopolitical developments impacting the sectors.
- Maintain up-to-date analysis of the external context, including mapping and database of stakeholders, potential supporters and partnership opportunities that are relevant to EcoPeace advocacy efforts.
- Educate diplomats, policymakers and their staff through tours, meetings, and other communications.
- Provide support in preparation for national and regional conferences and events.
- Maintaining a calendar of key dates for internal and external significant events and anniversaries.
- Represent EcoPeace in national forums, committees, and events.
- Work closely with the External Affairs and government Relations Officer to complete relevant reports and communications as needed.
- Implement other tasks as requested by the Director and the External Affairs Officer.
- Ccollaboratee with team members and the media officer to create compelling advocacy material and reports.
Project Specific Duties
- Assist the External Affairs Officer in establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant ministries, such as PWA, Ministry of Agriculture, EQA, PENRA, and collaborate with local councils and municipalities. Review the organization’s projects to identify areas requiring building relationships with other civil society organizations and INGOs for successful implementation.
- Assist the External Affairs Officer, with the support of Project Managers, in arranging and preparing all necessary project documents, copies, charts to present to the relevant governmental institutions as needed.
- Follow up on obtaining required support letters and approvals on projects from the relevant authorities.
- Provide professional support and advice in relation to progress and implementation of projects to gain the cooperation of stalkholders and improve the organization’s visibility and reputation management.
- Work closely and meet regularly with the EcoPeace Regional Advocacy team from all EcoPeace Offices to coordinate the regional advocacy efforts and arrange for any regional events.

Qucalcifications and Experience:
- BA Degree in Political science, Public Relations, International Relations and Development, or any other related fields. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of solid experience in the field of outreach and institutional relations
- Proven experience in providing strategic analysis and policy advice within complex organizational settings.
- Fluency in English and Arabic languages with excellent oral and writing skills, Hebrew is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Required Competencies

- Ability to handle multi-tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to draft documents on short notice.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including writing strategies, briefing papers, concept notes, and presentations, etc. with the ability to synthesize messages to diverse audiences, both in Arabic and English.
- Experience in event planning and management.
- Team player, displaying culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability, with qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Experience in the WASH sector and advocacy work is favorable.
- Political awareness and interest in the analysis of political developments.
- Analytical strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Discretion and sound judgment in applying expertise to highly complex and/or sensitive issues.
- Strong diplomacy skills.
- Ability to work within a diverse multi-cultural environment within a regional context.
