Agricultural Specialist
Job Description
American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA), a development and humanitarian aid organization working in Palestine since 1968, invites applications from qualified applicants for the post of “Agricultural Specialist” based in ANERA’s office in Gaza.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the incumbent encompass the overall technical management and
implementation of the home gardening project in the Gaza Strip, including but not limited to the
following:
-Revising and developing criteria for identifying beneficiaries for the project.
-Preparing detailed implementation plans and timeframes; writing field reports and providing narrative progress reports as requested by the supervisor.
-Developing technical monitoring and evaluation systems; collecting data and information
about the progress of the project’s inputs ,outputs and indicators.
-Working closely with local sub-contractors, partners, and local committees to facilitate
communication and build networks. Provide ongoing supervision, leadership, support and
guidance to other team members.
-Drafting terms of reference (TOR) for consultants and trainers; issuing standards that ensure
the quality of anysub-contracted work.
-Preparing tender documents, and following up on the tendering process. Analyzing bids and
recommending qualified contractors to the supervisor.
-Supervising the implementation of project activities and conducting the necessary follow-up,
-Participation in relevant seminars and meetings, performing other relevant assigned duties
and tasks as requested.
Educational Background and Experience Requirements
Key qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Science; majoring in plant production/protection from a recognized university. Masters Degree is an advantage.
-At least 3-5 years of fieldwork experience, especially in home gardening, agricultural
extension services, and community development.
-Knowledge of the socioeconomic situation of local people, and the agricultural context in Gaza.
-Excellent report writing skills in English and Arabic is mandatory .
-Ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel frequently to project locations.
-Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people.
-A valid drivers license.
