The ACT Palestine Forum (APF) was established in 2008 by a group of Christian ecumenical organisations representing local and international partners in order to respond to humanitarian needs in the Palestinian Territories caused by ongoing emergency situations, as well as to implement long-term development initiatives and to improve advocacy efforts by ACT members. Since late December 2008, the APF has engaged in a number of interventions supporting vulnerable people in Gaza. Currently the APF is implementing a number of projects both in the West Bank and Gaza working with local ecumenical and Palestinian partners.APF has the following part-time vacancy for its current and on-going Emergency Appeal
APF Gaza Coordinator
Objectives: The APF Gaza Coordinator will be responsible to help facilitate cooperation and coordination of ACT members, as well as contributing to the followup of projects implemented by APF members and partners in Gaza. He/She will work closely with APF members and partners in Gaza to help ensure the high quality of the APF initiatives, activities and emergency assistance in Gaza.
Job Location: Gaza.
Duration: June – December 2009. Possibility for extension.
Responsibilities:
• Follow-up and monitor the implementation of ACT Forum member projects and interventions on regular basis.
• Regularly monitor project activities, beneficiaries and outputs.
• Coordinate and liaise with other APF Gaza partners.
• Facilitate cooperation and coordination between ACT members and their programmes.
• Contribute to the follow-up and monitoring systems or procedures of ACT members in accordance with ACT policies and guidelines
• Coordinate and liaise with the APF Coordinator and APF members in Jerusalem.
• Provide regular information, reports and data.
• Facilitate the work and logistics of APF communication teams, consultants, etc.
• Participate in UN, NGO and other meetings when requested.
• Facilitate the coordination of trainings and workshops.
• Other duties as deemed necessary
Skills, Competencies and Working Conditions:
• University degree in development, management, or business administration.
• At least 5 years working experience in humanitarian and developmental programmes.
• Experience working in humanitarian and development programmes in Gaza
• Demonstrate a practical work approach with ACT Palestine Forum members and partners.
• Demonstrate respect for partners and beneficiaries.
• Ability to work in difficult work conditions.
• Good reporting skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Strong communicational skills.
• Good knowledge of English and Arabic (written/spoken).
• Good knowledge of MS office packages.
• Part time job of 20 hours per week, distributed between 3-5 days according to needs.
• Transportation and communication allowances for work purposes.
• Part-time contract for from June - December 2009 with possibility of extension.
