The ACT Palestine Forum (APF) was established in 2008 by a group of Christian ecumenical organisations representing local and international partners in order to respond to humanitarian needs in the Palestinian Territories caused by ongoing emergency situations, as well as to implement long-term development initiatives and to improve advocacy efforts by ACT members. Since late December 2008, the APF has engaged in a number of interventions supporting vulnerable people in Gaza. Currently the APF is implementing a number of projects both in the West Bank and Gaza working with local ecumenical and Palestinian partners.

APF Gaza Psychosocial Co-Worker
Objectives: The APF Gaza Psychosocial Co-Worker will support and assist
in planning and arranging all psychosocial training, workshops and activities as
detailed in the Appeal. He/She will assist in following-up and monitoring of all
psychosocial activities implemented by APF members and partners in Gaza, and will
work closely with them to ensure the high quality of APF psychosocial interventions
in Gaza. Previously, members of the ACT Alliance have seconded a Psychosocial
Coordination Support Team, to strengthen the psychosocial work of the APF during
the implementation of the ACT Appeal. The purpose of the position of a Psychosocial
Co-Worker is to continue build local capacity and contribute to securing sustainability
of the Psychosocial programme of ACT members. Through their participation as a
member of the ACT Forum Palestine Psychosocial Coordination Support Team, he/she
is expected to assist the current work and at the same time be enabled to continue the
psychosocial work of APF members and partners after the international team has left.
Job Location: Gaza.
Duration: June – December 2009. Possibility for extension.
Responsibilities:
• Support, coordinate and participate in all APF psychosocial training with members, partners and beneficiaries in Gaza.
• Participate in field visits and monitoring of psychosocial activities conducted by APF members and partners.
• Work closely with the APF psychosocial consultant and team to provide support and coordination with APF members and partners activities in Gaza.
• Assist and support APF partners in planning and implementing psychosocial activities.
• Provide regular psychosocial activity reports and data.
• Ability to provide simultaneous English-Arabic translation and interpretation of the training sessions and workshops for participants.
• Other duties as deemed necessary

• University degree in psychology, mental health and/or social work.
• At least 3 years of psychosocial and mental health work experience.
• Possess a good experience working in mental health and psychosocial programmes in Gaza.
• Demonstrate respect for partners and beneficiaries.
• Pedagogical skills and ability to work closely with APF members and partners.
• Ability to work in difficult conditions.
• Good reporting skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Strong communications skills.
• Good knowledge of English and Arabic (written/spoken). Will be
required to provide simultaneous translation into Arabic during training
sessions and workshops.
• Good knowledge of MS office packages.
• Part time job of 20 hours per week, distributed between 3-5 days
according to needs.
• Transportation and communication allowances for job purposes.
• Part-time contract for from June - December 2009 with possibility of extension.
