Job Title: Arabic-English Interpreter

Overview:
The International Legal Foundation (ILF) is a New York based not-for-profit public defender organization created to assist in the establishment of fair criminal justice systems in post-conflict countries. The ILF was established in 1997 to ensure that the reconstruction of post-conflict justice systems includes a focus on indigent defense.

The ILF is seeking an Arabic-English interpreter to
-Work part-time (Monday to Friday 9 am to 2 pm).
-For an initial period of one year.
-In Ramallah.

Responsibilities:
-translate legal material and court proceedings for international staff of the ILF.
-Provide English translations of written legal material.
-Provide English translation of court proceedings.
-Provide translation between English- and Arabic-speaking staff.
-Provide Arabic/English translation for any necessary correspondence

Qualifications and Experience:
-Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken
-Experience legal translation is a strong plus.
-Strong communication skills and an ability to work diplomatically and maintain confidentiality.
-Computer proficiency, specifically working with Microsoft Office Suite.
-Ramallah resident.
