Upgrading of the Automechatronics Program
Introduction
HishamHijjawi College of Technology has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) - Education to Work Transition Project - Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Upgrading of the Automechatronics Program
The project is designed to upgrade program curriculum and infrastructure and build the capacity of the academic staff in partnership with private sector employers.
The project aims to enhance students’ employability and strengthen collaboration between TEIs and private sectors employers. Accordingly, HishamHijjawi College of Technology seeks the selection and employment of a Needs Assessment Consultant.
Assignment Objective:
HishamHijjawi College of Technology is considering the selection of a professional and qualified consultant, who will be responsible forconducting labor market need assessment study in order to identifying competencies gap between acquired competencies and those required by Auto mechatronics industry , he also will be responsible of evaluating the current curriculum of the Auto Mechatronics program
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Need Assessment expert will be responsible for the following tasks:
-Design and implement an evaluation plan for the local market needs and labor employment levels, which should include, but not limited to, (a) preparation of data collection tools, (b) design of sampling approach and tools, (c) designing of data collection methods and approaches (both qualitative and quantitative), and (d) designing of analysis tools and equipment (e.g. SPSS, NVivo, etc.)
-Develop, design, and implement an effective evaluation plan for the current curriculum in Auto Mechatronics Program in HHCT.
-Benchmark the current curriculum, and then identify, or provide recommendation on, areas and courses that need further improvements.
-Based on the result of point 2 and 3, the consultant should recommend a list of lab equipment needed (with specifications and potential suppliers).
-Identify KPIs, baseline values, and measurement methods based on the Grant Implementation Plan.
-Define essential employability skills and program educational objectives
-Decide program standards, to ensure that the program meets the needs of employers and that students will gain the skills they need to be successful.
Qualifications and Skills
Qualified consultant should hold the following:
1-At least a Master degree in electric or mechanic car systems, or any related discipline from a recognized University.
2-Proven experience in conducting similar assignment, at least two similar assignments
3-5 years minimum work experience in mechanic/electric car systems.
4-Currently in touch with local market, and aware of its needs.
5-Fluency in English.
6-Excellent report writing skills.
7-Strong communication skills.
8-Familiar with computer programs used to diagnose errors in cars.
Deliverables:
1-Approved Evaluation Plan to conduct a market assessment needs.
2-Approved Evaluation Plan to review and evaluate the current Curriculum of the Auto Mechatronics of HHCT.
3-Gap Analysis Report including SWOT analysis, tools, need Assessment Survey Questionnaire, results.
4-A report that list the required equipments and specifications
5-Materials for the Need assessment workshop and its final report
6-Final comprehensive report that should include the results and findings, recommendations, proposed courses, equipments, KPIs, etc.
7-Recommendations for training and building capacity consultant
