Org. Setting and Reporting

The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Field Sanitary Engineer and supervises such staff as may be assigned.

Responsibilities

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:

(A) Assists the Field Sanitary Engineer in:

(i) Planning, supervision and evaluation of environmental sanitation services in camps. (ii) Follow up on implementation of development projects to upgrade camp infrastructure of environmental health facilities;

(iii) Planning, organization and implementation of programmes for staff training and development.

Supervises the implementation of self-help camp improvement projects and other community-based activities;
Acts for Field Sanitary engineer during his absence;(D) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

A degree in environmental or civil engineering from a recognized university and a diploma in sanitary sciences.

Job Specific Qualifications

Work Experience

At least four years of professional working experience in a public service or management of sanitation programmes in refugee camps.

Languages

Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

* Conditions of service

-Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment

- Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

Monthly basic salary USD 1,490.30, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate, plus an allowance of 1000 NIS payable in JD at UNRWA rate.

Other benefits include:

Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency).
Dependency allowances (if applicable).
30 days of annual leave.
Compulsory medical insurance.

* Additional Information:

A driving license valid in the country of duty station. The incumbent will be required to travel frequently within the Field in the performance of his/her duties.

* Equivalency:

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and progressive relevant work experience.

NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
