The French section of Médecins Sans Frontières is recruiting for its project in Jerusalem an:
ASSISTANT for Head of Mission in Jerusalem
Médecins Sans Frontières “Doctors Without Borders” is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to provide medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.
Main Responsibilities of the position:
Provide support to the mission by assisting the Head of Mission and the Medical coordinator by contributing to the humanitarian context analysis and health situation of the mission area and follow-up. Ensuring a smooth relation with local and national authorities and disseminating relevant information to the coordination team, regularly informing them on key issues, updating on general information.
Accountabilities
Provide translations to the coordinators.
Keep good knowledge of counterparts in administrations, file field contacts and update the list of contacts.
Ensure the follow up of administrative dossiers concerning the mission (MSF registrations, working permits, etc.).
Per request, prepare and conduct informative briefings focusing on the humanitarian context analysis.
Assist, when necessary, the medical coordinator for the administrative follow-up of the patients, who are referred by MSF field teams to the capital and Amman.
Assist medical coordinator in the evaluation of medical structures to keep medical reference structure updated.
Help defining the objectives for the different projects and follow up of project activities.
Monitor the general humanitarian situation including health, as well as the socio-political situation.
Report about government’s policies, regulations and guidelines and keep up to date all the information.
Monitor media about the situation and MSF media coverage.
Write regular fact sheets based on the monitoring and on collects of information.
Strengthen the network with Government departments, local and international actors, and the community.
Participate in regular meetings with relevant humanitarian actors.
Assist in the preparation of external appointments and internal meetings and write minutes of meetings.
Organize the contact list of stakeholders and organize appointments with local authorities, NGOs, etc.
Assist the Medical Coordinator with collecting, compiling, and presenting the epidemiological data.

Requirements:
Education
University level studies or equivalent, public heath related studies - and/or sociology/political sciences.
English/Arabic speaker, Hebrew is a strong asset.
Experience
Previous experience in humanitarian field especially in Palestinian territories, MSF is an asset.
Essential: very good understanding of the functioning of the different administrations of the mission area (critical).
Reporting skills.
Field visits are planned in projects.
Contract: full-time contract.
Location: Jerusalem
