Assistant Program Manager
Project: Supporting the Development of Vocational Training in East Jerusalem.
Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an Italian Non Governmental Organization implementing humanitarian projects in the Palestinian territories since 2004. COOPI with financial assistance of the European Commission, is urgently seeking a Assistant project manager for its office in Jerusalem.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The assistant project manager will work under the supervision of COOPI Project Manager and in close collaboration with the community centers and vocational training schools. The assistant project manager will support the project manager for the administration, the planning and the monitoring of activities to pilot the development and use of materials on careers guidance His/Her work will require collaboration with schools and community centers and the supervision of community workers in the Old City of Jerusalem. The assistant will be based in Jerusalem.
TASKS
• Assisting the project manager in project implementation, reporting and administration;
• Contribute to the preparation of career guidance material;
• Organize training for community workers and teachers on careers guidance to children in collaboration with the community centers and the schools in the Old City of Jerusalem;
• Provide guidance, prepare monthly work plans and supervise community workers ;
• Organize awareness raising campaigns and careers events for children and parents ;
• Facilitate coordination with local communities, local organizations and other stakeholders
• Prepare translations English/Arabic and Arabic/English as requested by the project manager;
• Perform other duties as given by the project manager.
EDUCATION
A postgraduate degree, preferably in Social Sciences/ development related field with educational background.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous experience in project management with an NGO in the education/ vocational sector.
• Administrative background;
• Good coordination skills: ability to plan jointly with partner organizations, to understand their needs, and to work in a supportive way;
• Experience in career guidance implementation;
• Experience working with community based organizations;
• Experience in capacity building and training of teachers and community workers;
• Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills;
• Capacity to motivate partners and project teams;
• Demonstrated understanding of political, economic and social context in Jerusalem;
• Excellent computer skills;
• Fluent in Arabic and English;
• Valid driving license;
• Ability to travel in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
