The Opportunity – Gaza Award Manager
Post location: Gaza Field Office - Rafah and subject to change based on SC priorities and response in Gaza.
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: until 31st December 2024, with a possibility of extension based on available funds.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Award Manager at Save the Children in Gaza will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of award management, including donor compliance, kick-off meetings, partner agreements, member communication, and budget vs. actual (BVA) reviews. You will play a critical role in ensuring effective implementation of donor-funded projects, adherence to donor regulations, and communication with project partners and stakeholders. This position requires strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Donor Compliance:
- Serve as the focal point for ensuring compliance with donor regulations, requirements, and reporting deadlines.
- Review donor agreements and contracts to identify key compliance obligations and ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with program teams, finance, and other stakeholders to address compliance issues and mitigate risks.
Kick-off Meetings:
- Organize and facilitate kick-off meetings for new awards, ensuring clear understanding of project objectives, deliverables, and donor requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop detailed work plans, timelines, and implementation strategies.
Partner Agreements:
- Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements with implementing partners, ensuring alignment with project goals and donor expectations.
- Provide guidance and support to partners on compliance with award terms and reporting requirements.
- Monitor partner performance and address any compliance issues or concerns in a timely manner.
Member Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with project consortium members, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate regular meetings, calls, and updates to ensure effective coordination and collaboration among project partners.
- Manage communication channels and disseminate relevant information to project stakeholders as needed.
Budget vs. Actual (BVA) Review:
- Conduct regular reviews of project budgets vs. actual expenditures to monitor financial performance and identify variances.
- Analyze BVA reports to assess project progress, identify potential risks or challenges, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate with finance and program teams to address budget-related issues and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of timely and accurate reports to donors, including narrative reports, financial reports, and other required documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive records of award documents, correspondence, and project-related information for audit and compliance purposes.
Capacity Building and Training:
- Provide training and capacity-building support to project staff and partners on award management processes, donor compliance, and reporting requirements.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning within the project team and among partners.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
ESSENTIAL:
- Bachelor's degree in International Development, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5+ years of experience in award management, project management, or grants administration, preferably in the nonprofit sector or international development context.
- Strong understanding of donor regulations, compliance requirements, and project management principles.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data and information to inform decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with project management software is desirable.
- Commitment to Save the Children's mission and values, with a passion for improving the lives of children and families in Gaza through effective project management and partnership.
- Language proficiency in Arabic and English.
