Introduction:

Birzeit University received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF)-Ministry of Education
and Higher Education and Funded by the World Bank and EC, to implement the project of INTEGRATING VIRTUAL REALITY TECHNOLOGY IN RESEARCH AND EDUCATION. Birzeit University intends to apply part of this grant for selection and employment of qualified local researchers.

Assignment Objective:

Birzeit University is considering the selection of qualified local researchers to be part of small core
staff responsible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct a detailed research based on one of the following seven topics:
1-Investigation of potential uses of Virtual Reality technology in planning, architecture, engineering
and other related fields in Palestine.
2-Investigation Virtual Reality themes that are applicable for use in education.
3-Investigation of topics for development of Virtual Reality systems.
4-Investigation of methods for developing applications based on Virtual Reality technology.
5-Investigation of topics for using Virtual Reality for preservation of cultural heritage sites.
6-Investigation of topics for using Virtual Reality for studying historically important landscapes.
7-Investigation of topics for using Virtual Reality technology for improving awareness for local
environmental issues.
8-Other interesting topics in field

Deliverables:

1-The proposal should be 2 – 3 pages in length (maximum 750 words) and it should include:
-Brief review of the importance, significance, applications of the proposed research
-The Objectives
-Methodology
2-Detailed research and study based on one of the above eight topics explaining theme, objectives,
methodology, and expected outcome of the work.
3-The area of research must be related to one of the eight topics outlined above.

Essential Required Qualifications:

4-At least B.A. degree in Engineering, Planning, Architecture, IT or related field.
5-Very good academic record.
6-Excellent research, documentation and/or field work experience.
7-Good command of English, especially report writing
