The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.
Job Purpose Summary
BLP Master Trainer position is day to day implementation of the BLP intervention in education Project- Gaza target schools.
Key Responsibilities
Project activity planning and implementation
-Prepare, deliver and follow up BLP support activities and trainings to different beneficiaries (school teaching and non-teaching staff, MoEHE/UNRWA staff, seconded counselors, university students, university lecturers and parents, etc.) and any related awareness raising sessions based on the general approved plan.
-Develop and implement activities to support and mentor teachers and non-teaching staff in collaboration with the education team by delivering BLP training to school staff , following the implementation of the training package skills in the classroom, participating in teachers planning when needed and discussing the follow up with school management.
-Responsible for keeping accurate records of assessment, activities, and participation in school (number of beneficiaries, pictures, beneficiary feedback, activity budget tacking)
-Responsible for reporting (weekly/monthly on area of responsibility) to line manager.
-Observe teachers’ performance to ensure BLP activities are implemented in schools, provide them with structured feedback and develop a training plan based on the gaps identified.
-Responsible for following up the seconded counselors’ performance, attendance and commitment in target schools, and providing them with the appropriate support.
-Ensure the quality of intervention of BLP in target schools, and responsible for providing the schools’ counselors with technical support and guidance during parents’ sessions and group/individual sessions.
-Facilitate the Implementation of the BLP manuals related techniques with children, teachers and parents in target schools.
-Develop/revise BLP awareness related materials to target parents and teachers with target schools’ counselors and seconded counselors.
-Provide schools’ counselors with technical support and guidance during parents’ awareness sessions and group/ individual sessions
Project monitoring
-Work in close collaboration with M&E colleagues to revise/re-adapt/test/ use BLP monitoring tools
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or/and experience in working on psycho-education.
- Advanced degree in education or social science desirable
- Relevant work experience especially with beneficiaries.
- Experience of and commitment to participatory approaches to aid and development.
- Participated in NRC ToT and was involved in the BLP training packages delivery (BLP-1 & BLP-2)
Relevant Experience
-At least 3 years of experience in the field of psycho-education and/or youth
-At least 2 years of experience in implementing the Better Learning Project activities with children in schools.
-At least 1 year of experience in working as a BLP Master Trainer
-Experience in the BLP project structure and training delivery
Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes
-Good at English- reading writing and listening
-Relevant work field experience especially with beneficiaries.
-Experience of and commitment to participatory approaches to aid and development.
