Job Description

The Fair Trade Development Center/Institute for Community Partnership at Bethlehem University seeks an experienced and committed professional for the post of a Business Development Coordinator to work on SDC project implemented by Oxfam in Partnership with Fair Trade Development Center at Bethlehem University. Post holder will operate from the Programme Management Unit in Ramallah, which is managed by Oxfam.

Duration of Assignment: 12 months (Renewable)

Tasks and Duties: 

The Business Development Coordinator will be reporting directly to the Business Development and Governance Manager and will be responsible for the following:

1-Improve markets linkages and facilitate access to investments and match grants in the olive, and fresh produce and vegetables market.

2-Explore market potential in the West Bank to improve and strengthen domestic markets.

3-Contribute in formulating the standards and rules for establishing district level multi stakeholders platforms.

4-Support the establishment of a market information system. This includes identifying gaps in the available system and designing researches to bridge the information gap.

5-Facilitate establishing mechanisms for consumers and retailers to sample first-hand the products of women’s cooperative, support and facilitate national ‘buy local’ campaigns with market actors and the media.

6-Design campaigns to encourage wholesalers and retailers to substitute Israeli products with Palestinian products.

7-Design strategy (system) for financing development and the facilitation of access to financial resources.

8-Train and coach cooperatives and farmers representative bodies in related business approaches.

9-Support and follow up cooperatives mainly women’s cooperatives and groups and identify their main issues to be tackled through the advocacy work with various stakeholders from government and CSOs

10-Organize workshops and network meetings for partners and ensure timely and effective arrangements, prepare minutes and its distribution.

11-Assist on other task as requested by the Project Manager.

Qualifications:

The Business Development Coordinator shall meet the following requirements:
-A minimum of a B.A. Degree in business, management, finance or related field
-At least five years experience working on related field within the agricultural sector and in the international development sector, including consultancy
-Excellent analytical and report writing.
-Strong coordination and facilitation skills.
-Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
-Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team or independently with multiple stakeholders from Business and Governance Managers, VCs Development Managers, Private Sector Actors, related ministries, Farmers cooperatives, Federations and Social Enterprises.
-Gender awareness and gender sensitive in the Palestinian context.
-Excellent Arabic and English oral and written communication skills.
-Computer skills (MS Excel, word and power point).
-Valid driver license.
-Takes responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including some leadership).
-Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions.
-Willingness and fitness to travel for sustained periods of time
