Overview
The Business Women Forum (BWF) is a national non-profit organization established in 2006 to promote and empower businesswomen and entrepreneurs as leaders in the Palestinian economy. BWF offers comprehensive business development packages, including capacity building, coaching, consultancy, technical support, and networking opportunities with local, regional, and global institutions.
The Pioneers-Raedat Activity is a 5-year USAID-funded project implemented by Global Communities in partnership with local organizations. The project is intended to leverage women's potential and to empower communities for sustainable development, focusing on gender equity within the Palestinian community to create ripple effects that shift gender-based power relations across the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem (WBGEJ).
As part of the Pioneers-Raedat Activity, BWF seeks to recruit one Business Development Officer in the Gaza Strip to join its team.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The Business Development Officer will design, execute, and manage business development activities, ensuring MSMEs receive tailored guidance and build their capacities through structured training and coaching programs.
- Business Development and Capacity Building
- Design and Execute Business Packages: Develop and implement comprehensive business development packages for the targeted women MSMEs including but not limited to conduct needs assessment and develop business plans and oversee the delivery of business development activities.
- Coordinate with Experts: Ensure the appropriate application of technical recommendations from trainers and experts to achieve sustainability, institutionalize practices, and foster self-sustaining enterprises.
- Validate Deliverables: Review and assess outputs from trainers, experts, and service providers to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Manage Capacity-Building Components: Oversee the execution of training sessions, coaching programs, and business development events for selected MSMEs.
- Identify Market Opportunities: Analyze local market trends to identify opportunities for MSMEs and adapt business development strategies accordingly.
- Field Monitoring and Guidance
- Conduct Field Assessments: Perform regular field visits to MSMEs to evaluate their progress, identify emerging needs or challenges, and provide on-site business development assessments.
- Guide MSMEs: Offer targeted guidance to MSMEs to help them effectively implement their business development plans.
- Reporting and Data Management
- Monitor and Track Activities: Oversee the implementation of various activities related to women-owned MSMEs, ensuring accurate reporting, data collection, and analysis.
- Facilitate Linkages: Draft agreements, explore new marketing channels, and create connections between producers, MSMEs, and market opportunities. Oversee product development and lead efforts to organize promotion and marketing events to enhance MSME visibility.
- Support Product Development: Guide MSMEs in product refinement and market positioning to increase appeal and market reach.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Engage in Other Activities: Complete any additional tasks assigned by the Project Manager or key project personnel, contributing to overall project success and adaptability.
- Networking: Participate in local business networks and events to establish partnerships and opportunities for collaboration that benefit MSMEs.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in Business Development: A minimum of 4 years of experience in business development, with a focus on marketing, business planning, pricing, business consulting or coaching, and/or managing small business enterprises (SMEs). Experience in economic empowerment, livelihood, and entrepreneurship projects is preferred.
- Specialization in MSMEs: At least three years of experience, specifically in business development or capacity building, with a preference for candidates who have worked with Women-led Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
- Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, marketing, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree is an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data analysis tools.
- Field Travel Capability: Willingness and ability to travel to field locations for project-related assessments and follow-up visits.
- Teamwork and Problem-Solving: Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team, with a proactive approach to achieving project goals and resolving challenges.
Additional Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory, but a Plus)
- Knowledge of USAID Guidelines: Familiarity with USAID Rules and Regulations is advantageous.
- Driving License: A valid driving license is beneficial, as travel to field locations may be required.
- Procurement and Sourcing Expertise: Knowledge of local sourcing and procurement strategies, including processes and systems.
