Business Development Specialist

Position: Business Development Specialist
Position Station: Ramallah, with continuous fieldwork in West Bank
Duration: 8 months
Agricultural Cooperatives Union-Palestine (PACU), is implementing project “Enhancing Framework of Cooperatives among Agricultural Cooperatives in Palestine” in partnership with We Effect. PACU is a seeking a highly qualified Business Development Specialist (BDS) to work with the union and its Cooperatives members in West Bank according to the following criteria:
Tasks and Responsibilities
-Provide business technical assistance, counseling, teaching, and coaching for the agricultural cooperatives
-Provides assistance in developing business plans, marketing plans and business development strategies.
- Analyze the businesses financial health of union and member cooperatives and create financial readiness action plans based on analysis.
-Prepare a business plan for the union; in addition to 10 -20 business plans for the Union Cooperative members.
-Prepare marketing plan and business development strategies for requested member cooperatives
-Follow and Monitor the progress and development of the union and the cooperatives.
Qualifications:
-University degree in business administration or finance, accounting, management or equivalent experience.
-Considerable knowledge of sound business procedures including business finance , human resources, operations, value chain and sales and marketing.
-Understanding of financial evaluation tools including ratios, cash flows, break-even points, etc.
-Understanding of financing options for business start-ups and business expansions
-Understanding of entrepreneurship, initiatives, incubators and collective business model.
-Skillful in the use of financial analysis computer programs
-Mastery of spreadsheet software i.e., Excel.
-Relevant experience in working with farmers, women and youth cooperatives in the field of business development.
-At least three years experience in small business/agri-business, mainly in: Management of marketing operations, Management of marketing operations, Management of agri-business operations, technical Assistance to rural micro/ small businesses, project preparation and appraisal techniques
Skills and Competencies:
-Leadership and negotiation skills, ability to identify business opportunities and to link with the private/public sector.
- Understanding of rural poverty context and gender issues is an asset.
-Excellent communication, facilitation and listening skills
-Proven personal commitment to socio-economic aspect.
-Excellent report writing skills and proficiency in English Language.
