The Organization
GVC – Gruppo di Volontariato Civile is an Italian based international NGO operating in Palestine since the 1992 providing support to the people living in West Bank and Gaza.
GVC works in co-operation with local partners including national and local authorities addressing both short-term humanitarian needs and longer-term developmental issues through an integrated and participated approach and looking for sustainable results. Last years’ GVC’s interventions have
been characterized by a particular focus on WASH and Food Security/Agricultural sectors.
Background
GVC in partnership with UAWC, PHG, Qatar Charity, Agenzia Laore Sardegna, Jericho cooperative for livestock development and Altamerh cooperative for livestock development is implementing the project “Moving herders from aid dependence to self-sustaining growth through livestock husbandry development and market expansion” co-funded by the European Commission. The project main objective is to increase resilience of vulnerable herders living in eastern slopes of West Bank through improving production capacities, access to assets and expanding income opportunities
from livestock.
A strong focus will be given to strengthening capacities and knowledge of herders in management of production through introduction of innovative practices and in by improving marketing and production services and governance instruments as public and private partnership.
Duties and responsibilities
In the above mentioned framework GVC is looking for a capacity building coordinator who under the supervision of the project manager will undertake the following tasks:
-To assume primary responsibility for the Capacity Building Component of the project, its management and implementation, and ensure compliance with the project tools, work plan and spending plan;
-To design a mobilization strategy to reach out key community actors to be involved in the capacity building component of the project;
-To liaise with other project sectors to design and adapt to context the project tools related to trainings and mentoring,
-To identify training needs and develop training ToRs;
-To liaise with other capacity building initiatives in each target district;
-To develop certifications instruments;
-To develop mentoring plans;
-To develop pre, progressive and post tests;
-To define the criteria for the selection of participants to the capacity building initiatives;
-To develop tools to collect attendance data disaggregated in a gender and age manner;
-To develop tools to monitor the impact of the capacity building initiatives;
-To ensure effective implementation of trainings and mentoring activities in the field;
-To collect and consolidate reports and updates on training and capacity building events, including pictures, good practices, lessons learnt (these last in collaboration with the Communication Officer);
-To supervise and manage the building activities and experts;
-To ensure proper understanding of the project training plans and materials, their timely and efficient implementation and overall understanding of the project objectives and outcomes;
-To ensure active collaboration, information sharing and joint meetings between the programme, local authorities and other stakeholders to identify and strengthen support for project activities;
-Any other task identified by the supervisor
Required qualification and competencies
Master Degree in Education, Sociology, Social Sciences or equivalent experience
-At least two years experience in working in the humanitarian setting with and international NGO
-Demonstrable experience in conducting and supervising training activities (TOT) in project relevant fields
-Excellent spoken and written Arabic and English and ability to write documents and reports
-Strong analytic skills
-Strong computer skills: must be competent in the use of Windows, MS office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
-Proven leadership, problem solving and conflict management skills
-Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
-Excellent communication skills
