Career Guidance Counsellors
Sharek Youth Forum is recruiting 3 career guidance counsellors to work in Sharek’s STEPFORWARD centres to be established in Ramallah, Nablus, and Hebron.
Sharek Youth Forum is a leading Palestinian youth organization with the primary goal of creating
the space and capacity for youth to engage as active participants in all sectors of civil society and to participate in the development of local communities. As a youth organization for youth, run by youth, Sharek tackles development issues from a unique perspective which directly reflects youth needs and visions.
Project Overview
The project Services and Training for Employment Placement (STEP) has the overall aim of improving employment prospects of young people in the West Bank by establishing STEP Centres in Ramallah, Nablus, and Hebron. Step centres will initially provide drop-in career guidance services and employment skills workshops for young people, with the aim of improving their employment prospects by assisting their job search and application competencies and by developing the ‘soft’ employment skills that will enable a successful career. Mobile services will extend same services to Marginalised and Rural communities. STEP Centres will also provide an internship and employment placement scheme.
Educational Background Required
-Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Development, Public Administration, or relevant
field. Master’s degree holders preferred
-Minimum of five years progressive experience in working in developmental projects and career
counselling
-Commitment to providing quality results and services
-Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining collaborative relationships
-Fluency in Arabic and English
-Thorough knowledge of Internet, MS Office and other technological tools
-Ability to think clearly, deeply and broadly
-Excellent organisational skills
-Excellent communication skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Successful applicants will be assigned to one of the STEP Centers in Ramallah, Nablus, or Hebron.
-They will be expected to manage the center and deliver the following services:
-Deliver high quality career guidance services
-Deliver employment skills training
-Offer these services to Marginalised and Rural areas through Mobile Services through outreach
visits and training programmes
-Centre management
