The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
Generic responsibilities
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
-Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
-Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
-Ensure proper filing of documents
-Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
Specific responsibilities
-Responsible for booking for the meeting room and ensuring that it is kept in order; Preparing the communication equipment
-Prepare PRs - Organize vehicles for team field trips
-Responsible for taking minutes (when asked)
-Responsible for filing documents
-Phone contact with counterparts (municipalities: inform about field visit dates and assist in organizing venues) –
-Under the supervision of the UDOC M&E FP, plan field visits with M&E section
-Carry out any other tasks requested by Line Manager
Personal qualities
-Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or other relevant academic background
-Experience from working as a Project Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
-Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
-Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
-Very Good knowledge of English
Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
-Experience from working as Admin Assistant
-Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
-Ability to work in a team
-Very good command of English, Arabic both written and orally.
-Very good command of computer skills (Word, Excel).
