Main responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Protection Family Links (PFL) Gaza Search Team Leader in close collaboration with other caseworkers, Forensic Data Analyst and Protection Data colleagues, carries out tasks to contribute to Plan of Action for caseload analysis and establishing a search strategy for the cases of the missing and the dead.
The Caseworker
contributes to the implementation of the objectives of the Israel & Occupied Territories (ILOT) Gaza Search Team and in particular:
- Assesses and monitors the situation of people affected by the escalation of the conflict in Gaza since Oct 2023, with regard to their needs in the field of the search for missing persons.
- Collects data on individual cases and provides relevant details, including on findings, to the families.
- Undertakes searches for people who are unaccounted for, by triangulating and orchestrating the data available and following up leads (including information on those who have died).
- Completes relevant documentation and records, ensuring that they are both secure and protected.
- Exchanges and coordinates information with the PFL Gaza Search Team Leader and the rest of the caseworkers within the Gaza Search Team.
- Consolidates all relevant information,
- Contributes to drafting representations communication and notifications to the authorities by providing information on trends and statistics found through the work on the cases / caseload the caseworker covers; and helps prepare internal and external meetings and reports.
- Conduct research and analysis of the Gaza caseload of the separated/missing/dead as per the priorities set by the PFL Gaza Search Team Leader.
- Works independently on documentation and follow up of individual cases within the Gaza search team.
- Completes data and flags areas of improvement in the data collection and analysis to the PFL Gaza Search Team Leader.
Education & professional experience:
- University degree or equivalent in medical or forensics field.
- Excellent command of English and Arabic, Hebrew is an asset.
- Computer proficiency.
- Typically, 5 years of overall professional experience overall including 3 years’ experience in the field of forensic or medical sciences or similar is an asset,
- Experience as a caseworker with another organization (international, governmental or non-governmental) or National Society required.
- Experience with the ICRC or other humanitarian agency an asset.
