Save the Children is seeking qualified candidate to fulfill the following vacancy in its Gaza Office:
Child Protection DRR Officer- Position#: (CP.DRR.O/GZ/2015)
Contract Duration: 10 months
Main Responsibilities:
-This post holder is a technical representative of SCI for this program for the counterparts and will coordinate closely with them. The project officer will be responsible to SCI for the follow up of the activity in the field, and provide technical support to field staff, provide all needed reports and updates.
-The project officer reports back to the program manager and will be a key member of the education department. The project officer will coordinate all needed support from SCI and provide all necessary reports and updates concerning the program and its implementation activities.
-The post holder is expected to represent SCI before target communities and stakeholders.
-Contribute to the documentation of the project activities and events to the SC in close coordination with the Program Manager and Gaza Senior Programs Manager
-Coordination with project’s partners, Schools, KGs and communities for implementation of project activities.
-Conduct field visits to all partners, schools, KGs and CBO in the targeted five communities in order to monitor the project activities.
-Work very closely with the partners project coordinators during the implementation
-Maintain up to date documents and records relating to all aspects of duties and responsibilities and submit all of the required information to the Program Manager
-Assist in ongoing collection of monitoring data
-Ensure partners reports are due on time
-Ensure submitting reports on time as requested by donor
-Assist in planning and implementation of project evaluation
-Coordinate with other NGOs, and CBOs working in the area to avoid duplication of efforts and services
-Any other related tasks requested by the Program Manager or Gaza Senior program Manager
-Work with project staff to address the quality of the project outputs, and assessing adherence to quality standards and policies.
-Facilitate document processes, models, best practices and lessons learnt are integrated into activities implemented.
-Advocate to local authorities community’s needs, and rising awareness on vulnerability identified.
-Identify capacity gaps and training needs for local partners to improve their skills in project management and implementation.
-Ensure reports (oral and writing) describe in details and with the maximum accuracy the situation faced at implementation.
-Ensure concerned people and particularly within line management are always timely updated on the status of the project.
-Analyse situation faced, raise issues, foresee potential issues, request for assistance if needed.
-Ensure timely updates to line management (incl. to partners) through clear emails, and regular phone calls.
-Establish systems for sharing information so to ensure adequate flow of information.
-Adherence to SCI Finance & Admin procedures.
-Ensure expenses are reported in parallel with activities implementation.
-Coordinate with finance staff on accounting, budget monitoring, and financial reporting.
Qualifications and Experience:
-Bachelor in psychology, social work, development studies or other related field
-At least 3 years of experience in implementing education, disaster risk reduction and/or psychosocial support project(s).
-A very good understanding of psychosocial support and resilience is desirable
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Strong reporting skills
-Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
-Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
-A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment.
-Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic is required.
