Tamer Institute for Community Education is a non-profit community educational organization established in 1989 during the first Intifada responding to the critical needs of Palestinians, while promoting education, identity, freedom of expression, and access to knowledge. Tamer Institute works mainly with children, youth and groups that work with them providing safe and inclusive learning environments. Tamer’s programs aim to contribute to enhancing reading, writing and all forms of expression on national and international levels. The Institute considers reading, writing and other means of expressive arts as tools through which children and adolescents can express themselves, release their stress, network with their society and have a leading role in the development of their community. The Institute’s vision is “towards a Free and Safe Palestinian Learning Society” while its mission is to “Encourage and deepen the culture of learning among children, young adults and groups which work with them”.

Tamer Institute is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team in Gaza:

Position:  Child Protection Projects Coordinator 

Duration: 10 months

Role Dimensions: 

Child Protection Projects Coordinator will operate within Tamer Institute’s vision towards a free and safe Palestinian society as Tamer's programs and interventions are designed to serve Tamer’s mission “to provide a safe enabling environment for the culture of learning".

The Child Protection projects coordinator’s main areas of work will be in the provision of administrative and technical support on child protection, child protection programming level with specific attention to case management interventions, psychosocial program/project activities, reporting, coordination, and commitment for enhancement of teamwork and capacity building. 

Furthermore, this position ensures quality implementations, effectiveness and building on the existing experience in child protection.  Alongside Tamer’s Community Learning Programs team, the Child Protection Projects Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring an accurate, proper, timely and high-quality implementation of child protection projects leading a team that consists of field coordinators, technical supervisors, case managers, counselors and expressive arts\ life skills facilitators.

His\ her role comprises of acting as a focal point with the main actors in the child protection field such as (Ministry of social development, Child protection cluster and its subgroups (CPWG, GBV, MHPSS) and other stakeholders). 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring proper and timely delivery of the projects under her/his responsibility including administrative, financial, and logistical support according to the agreed outcomes within the work plan, budget and logical framework of the projects.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to the projects’ teams, to ensure quality implementation.
  • Following-up on human resources issues related to the staff within the projects under her/his responsibility.
  • Acting as a focal point with all stakeholders of the child protection projects and maintaining close and regular contact with them and related clusters as well.
  • In collaboration with the Programs coordinator, developing the projects overall, quarterly, and monthly plans including the indicators of success, means of verification, risks, and assumptions.
  • In collaboration with the Programs coordinator, preparing monthly progress reports, quarter and final narrative reports of the projects.

Respecting and Promoting Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation.

Job Requirements

Competencies and qualifications:

  • University degree in related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the field.
  • Strong background, understanding and experience in the child protection field and profound expertise in community development work.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English languages.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, project management skills and Leadership.
