Child Rights Project Coordinator
Save the Children (SCUK) a leading UK charity fighting for children’s rights and delivering immediate and lasting improvement to children’s lives worldwide. SCUK is seeking a Child Rights Project Coordinator. The Child Rights Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation of SCUK’s work with the Child Rights Planning Unit in the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Planning, the goal of which is to develop a report on the PA’s implementation of the CRC. The person hired into this position will also be responsible for coordinating the development of a civil society/government child rights advocacy coalition and leading work with various line ministries to strengthen their capacity to develop child focused policies. The Project Coordinator will ensure the quality and effectiveness of SCUK’s programming in these areas in accordance with the grant proposal and guidelines as well as SCUK values and principles. This position is currently available for a 10 month contract, with the expectation that project work will continue for at least three years. This position does not currently have any line management responsibilities.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Develop and manage the implementation of a detailed programme plan
Supervise day to day project implementation and grant management
Supervise CRC report development
Develop a government/civil society lobbying and advocacy coalition, and develop advocacy
and lobbying training materials
Promote the development of child focused policies in the PA
Contribute to financial and narrative grant reporting
Coordinate work with partners and develop new partnerships
Monitor and evaluate project progress
Contribute to organizational strategic planning and fundraising
Qualifications:
University degree in Social Sciences or a related field
Minimum of 3 years experience in project coordination
Technical expertise in the field(s) of governance and policy development
Experience organizing and leading research/advocacy activities
Experience and understanding of working in partnerships with the Palestinian Authority
Finance/budget management experience Grant management experience, good planning and time management skills, and good analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities, and demonstrable initiative and creativity Ability to manage a varied workload and perform to tight deadlines
Excellent written and spoken English and fluent Arabic
