The YWCA of Palestine is implementing a three-Year Program, titled “Empowering socially excluded young women in the oPt to become economically active and advocate for their rights with local decision makers”, which started in January 2014. This project is a joint program between YWCA, Y-Care international, and YWCA-YMCA Sweden, and funded  by the EU and SMC.

The project seeks to enable 18 community based organizations in 6 villages in the Jordan Valley and Ramallah Districts to effectively support disadvantaged young women and men to improve their economic and social status and advance their ability to participate in economic decision making. The project seeks to strengthen beneficiary communities through career counseling, vocational training, entrepreneurship and business start-up and development services, as a strategy for poverty reduction.
The YWCA of Palestine is now seeking to hire qualified, experienced and motivated person for the post of “Civic Engagement Officer” who will take the lead in community mobilization, CBOs’ capacity building, and youth civic engagement and advocacy campaigns in the areas where the project operates. The person will also extend support to the four local YWCA associations in their civic engagement strategies
Job Location:     Project Office in Ramallah (with intensive travel to Jericho and Ramallah Governorates)
Duration of Employment:1 year contract renewable based on performance 
Employment Status:Full-time position
Start Date:Preferably 1 August 2015


 Required Major Skills and Qualifications
-Minimum Bachelor degree in development studies, social work or any other related field;
-Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in working with youth leadership programs and implementing strategies of civic engagement
-Ability to train/coach and accompany staff in the field and promote participatory approaches
-Experience in designing and implementing national campaigns and engaging young people especially women in advocacy work.
-Strong communication skills
