MA’AN Development Center is looking to fill the following position in its office in Gaza Strip: Commodity Value Chain Coordinator (Part Time- 75%)
Ma'an is an independent Palestinian development and training organization established in January, 1989, registered by law as a non-profit organization. MA’AN's work is informed by the necessity of creating independent, self-reliant initiatives that lead to the development of human resources for sustainable development, which incorporate values of self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.
MA’AN in partnership with Oxfam GB is implementing a program “Developing Equitable Agricultural Production and Market Systems for Resilient Economic Development in the occupied Palestinian Territory”. The Program consists of five outcomes to implement in three years interventions that are planned to directly benefit 5,000-6,000 small-scale producers (SSPs) in three value chains (VCs). It will also facilitate systematic improvements in production, processing, and marketing systems of these VCs, thereby indirectly benefiting an at least 40,000-45,000 additional SSPs (around a fifth of those involved in the agricultural sector) in above targeted areas.
Position title: Commodity Value Chain Coordinator
The Commodity Value Chain Coordinator will bring technical experience in the field of agronomy to support the planning, and implementation of program activities supporting the improvement of agricultural commodities value chains in Gaza.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Participate in the development and implementation of upgrading plans in targeted value chains with a focus on improving smallholder crop and net revenues.
Managing the program agricultural activities in the field
Work with women and the small scale producers to enhance their production quantity and quality through extensions, advisory services, and trainings.
Supervise the demonstration sites/field schools and provide the technical advice to the entrepreneurs in the agronomy related fields.
Provide required inputs into the monitoring and evaluation system.
Essential Experience:
Minimum three years of experience in programs aimed at upgrading agricultural value chains using market solutions approach
Experience with vegetables value chain analysis and development
Minimum 5 years of work experience with NGOs or INGOs
Very good reporting and formal writing skills in both English & Arabic.
Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Good computer literacy.
Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
Education: at minimum a Bachelor's degree in agronomy or relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
Directly Reporting to: Commodity Value Chain Leads.
