GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communication and Reporting Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all information, data, and success stories from the field are captured in collaboration with the PYE core team, national partners, and network of local partners and CBOs, documented and reported in a results-based and timely manner for internal purposes for Mercy Corps PYE program, and USAID. Related submissions will align with related Mercy Corps and USAID rules and regulations. The Communication and Reporting Coordinator is responsible for developing communication materials (e.g., information sheets, press releases, social media posts) on PYE activities for external English and Arabic audiences. He/She will manage graphic designers and multimedia producers who will design and produce related awareness-raising and information kits.

Essential Responsibilities 

COMMUNICATION

  • Ensure effective communications, visibility, and knowledge management within Mercy Corps, PYE program, and to external audiences (e.g. localities, national).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a Communication Strategic Action Plan in line with the PYE annual work plans to facilitate better understanding among partners and government about PYE and program progress through social media and other communication channels. 
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a Branding and Marking Plan in line with USAID branding and marking guidelines at the level of PYE, partners, and local partners, mainly the CBOs and youth councils. 
  • Undertake field visits to gather the information and results related to the program in collaboration with the M&E Youth Researchers Unit/Team. 
  • Develop visibility materials such as Mercy Corps PYE leaflets, updates on Mercy Corps website regarding the program, publish and share success and Most Significant Change (MSC) stories with relevant stakeholders (USAID, Mercy Corps HQ, Regional Office) for special events.
  • Capture and share photo documentation for all key activities.
  • Manage the translation of success stories, documents, and official letters from English to Arabic and vice versa as required. 

REPORTING

  • With input from the MEL Advisor and Technical Specialists, help produce high-quality program progress reports as per donors and Mercy Corps requirements.
  • Support the development of PYE annual work plans and the MEL plan.
  • Support drafting and finalization of quarterly and annual reports, evaluation reports, and final reports for the PYE program, as well as all ad-hoc reports required by the donor and/or Mercy Corps.
  • Provide high-quality editing and formatting for all program-related documents in English.
  • Support program staff in organizing and managing trainings, workshops, conferences, and field visits as required.
  • Provide relevant expert services to the Program Management Unit, program components, and implementing partners on reporting and communications and act as a facilitator or trainer.
  • Other duties as requested from the direct supervisor. 

SECURITY 

  • Ensure that all PYE program and/or activities across target localities are implemented in line with USAID branding and marking guidelines with a clear analysis and understanding of security management priorities.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • Master’s degree in Mass communications, journalism, social sciences, or related areas.
  • Five years relevant working experience.
  • Extensive experience in communication and distribution strategies and techniques, reporting, documentation, publication, and audio-visual material preparation.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills in both English and Arabic.
  • Well-versed in the latest electronic publishing and graphics methods.
  • Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high level of motivation and good communication, social, and interpersonal skills
  • Well-versed in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and English/Arabic languages typing.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Arabic and English languages.
  • Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel and with program partners and community members.
  • Ability to conduct oneself with sensitivity and respect toward others
