Communication Assistant
40 hrs per week – 3 Months

Based in Gaza

Purpose of the job:
The Communication Assistant will closely work with Oxfam’s Media and Communication Officer in Gaza to support the influencing and program communication. The communication Assistant will support the day-to-day tasks to ensure smooth implementation of communication projects and will support the implementation of strategic campaigning for behavior change, and will contribute in content writing for various multimedia forms.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the production process of learning and educational communication products through close coordination with media service providers and partner/s and provide creative inputs for relevant scripts when needed.
- Assist in the development of risk communication plans and engagement strategies lead by the team with the aim to increase the community awareness about the critical public health concerns.
- Support the production of edutainment content and propose messages for different audience segments.
- Support the implementation of selected emergency campaigns (including COVID-19) including dissemination and follow-up,, monitor false rumours and misinformation.
- Support in networking and coordination with Oxfam partners to organize field visits and follow up on potential program stories.
- Scripting media interviews and being able to provide translation from Arabic to English when needed.
- Support in following up the documentation process for multiple Oxfam programmes in Gaza and ensure a proper media archiving.
- Support the media and communication capacity building sessions in terms of coordination and needed logistics.

Job Requirements
Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- Professional/Technical qualifications – Undergraduate in Communication related field (Communication, Journalism or Public Relations).
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in Arabic and English.
- Experience of producing high quality written and audio-visual materials.
- Professional communications skills, gained within a journalism/PR environment.
- Excellent networking and negotiation skills to develop good working relationships within Oxfam and partners.
- Ability to think and operate strategically and creatively.
- Understanding of gender issues and commitment to promoting gender equity.
- Proven experience of using MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point) and new media tools.
- Experience with major social media platforms analytics (Facebook, Instagram).
- Careful attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational skills.
Salary
The employee will be contracted by Oxfam with a competitive, fair and comprehensive pay and benefits package that is justifiable to our donors. Salary range 66,239- 92,735 ILS gross per annum, for a 40 hour contract. Salary offered will be subject to funding available and competences.
