Aid Watch Palestine (AWP) was established after the 2014 Israel attack on Gaza as an independent, Palestinian initiative to make international aid more accountable to Palestinians. We invite the Palestinian community and aid actors - local and international, public and private - to join us in critical and constructive scrutiny of aid and to fundamentally re-envision aid. We are looking for a dynamic Communication Coordinator willing to take on enriching challenges. The Communication Coordinator is to participate in raising the Palestinian community awareness on the topic of International aid to Palestinians through media, and mobilizing the community to engage in the discussion and the policies dictating its management. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing AWP’s communications and media, including reporting and fundraising. He/ She will work with AWP staff to develop outreach materials and provide communications support. He/ She will also coordinate press coverage of AWP activities and events, manage the AWP’s social media accounts and e-newsletter, and maintain consistency in AWP messaging to diverse audiences.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Main responsibilities
Print Material:
Manage creation, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic materials, including:
-Quarterly e-newsletters for an external audience of members, partners, and supporters
-Assist in the preparation of the annual/quarterly report for donors and other supporters
-Consistent and engaging postings and conversations on social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, as appropriate
-Maintain and update AWP website with event announcements, photos, news articles, newsletters, press releases, etc.
-Responsible of writing press releases, short articles, and newsletters ( Director approval is needed)
-Event announcements for publications, invitations, programs
-Responsible of maintaining a data base that includes all details needed.
Electronic/ Social Media
-Collaboratively manage and coordinate creation and update web-content consistently
-Implement e-communication with donors and general public
-Provide organization wide e-communication support, and manage constant update of contact database
-Responsible of collecting stories and articles and upload on AWP website ( director approval is needed)
-Engaging actively with online discussion and reply to inquires/ questions/comments
-Translate the important comments, articles, newsletter, and other media related documents ( Arabic to English, and vise verca)
-Review and editing AWP studies and researches
-Coordinate with the IT maintenance company and follow up technical issues
-Search date and upload resources including of links and documents
-Actively monitor AWP online reputation
-Develop a social media strategy and implement it effectively
-Responsible of increasing the number of AWP subscribers and followers
Communication and Media Relations
-Conduct media relations plan for selected events or activities
-Work with management to identify media opportunities and implement campaigns around key programs and issues, including monitoring media cycles and updating media lists
-Assist in preparing for workshops, trainings, guest speaker engagements, and other events to ensure that all communications are accurate and consistent
-Coordinate AWP Activities, workshops and conferences
-Responsible of developing a yearly communication plan
-Direct member requests to appropriate staff members and ensure timely response
-Write and distribute press releases ( Director approval is needed)
-Maintain communication and media archives
-Assist in writing reports development documents, including fundraising proposals, publications, and communication materials (cultivation, solicitation, and donor acknowledgment letters)
-Submit a monthly report and plan on communications activities, engagement levels, and progress
-To perform additional tasks to support the effective operation of AWP, as needed
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the same position
- Previous work experience with NGOs / INGOs
- Ability to handle multiple assignments & meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Fluency in written & spoken English/ Arabic
- Professional attitude, good social skills, and ability to work in a team
- Accurate, reliable, open-minded, and a positive attitude
- Willingness to improve skills and knowledge
- Commitment towards principles and ethics of work
- Strong Computer skills, in particular MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and the Internet
