Job Description
Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organisation working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002.

ACF is recruiting for its Jerusalem office a
Communication Officer
For an initial six months

The Candidate will:
-Lead in the design and implementation of a communication strategy for the mission. 
-Oversee the development of a national communications plan.
-Ensure the timely implementation of programme-related visibility activities.
-Draft ACF publications, including sit reps, internal newsletters and leaflets.
-Assist in the production of short films.
-Prepare advocacy briefings and contribute to development of ACF approach to humanitarian and development issues in oPT.
-Update ACF website country page (internal and external) on quarterly basis.
-Produce ACF material for social networks.
-Produce annual report.
-Organise press conferences and other appropriate media and journalistic events.
-Update and disseminate information to mission visitors.
-Represent ACF in various advocacy forums.
-Conduct participatory workshops and trainings for ACF staff where necessary.
-Support in monitoring & evaluation of communication strategy at mission level.
-Coordinate with international advocacy networks, including close collaboration with ACF advocacy teams at the international level to ensure complimentarily and coherence of messages across national, regional and international levels.
-Develop strategic partnerships and alliances with other humanitarian actors in the region, e.g. research institutions, universities, training centres, etc., that add value to in country interventions

Profile of the Candidate:
-Bachelors Degree in political science, literature, communications, journalism or similar background.
-Minimum two years work in OPT with strong writing, communications and advocacy experience. Food Security, Nutrition and Water and Sanitation experience is desirable.
-Demonstrated experience working in OPT in humanitarian aid.
-Good knowledge of project cycle management.
-Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
-Solid understanding of the political and protection context of OPT.
-Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written). Spanish will be considered an asset.
-IT: Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Access, and PP). Others will be an asset (mapping programmes).
-Strong analytical and communications skills (both written and oral).
-Proven interpersonal and networking skills with international organizations and donors.
-Strong negotiation skills and capacity to promote consortiums and partnerships.
-Open minded and flexible character.
