Communication Officer
Job Description
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ramallah is looking for candidates to fill the following position:
Function: Communication Officer
Department: Communication
Reporting line Head of Office
Place of Employment Ramallah
Occupation rate 80%
About ICRC
The ICRC, established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war.
Main tasks
-Contributes to set the objectives of the Communication department according to institutional/operational priorities
-Contributes to the plan of action, implements the activities and assesses the outcome programs/
initiatives
-Updates the Head of Office on the implementation of programs
-Various reporting related to communication activities, humanitarian activities and observed trends in relation to ICRC action in Ramallah.
-Explains the ICRC mandate and basic principles of International humanitarian law to a range of
audiences
Qualification required for the post
-University degree
-6-years work experience in a management/program coordination position
-Very good analytical and writing/reporting skills
-Fluent in written and spoken English
-Excellent communication and presentation skills
-Confirmed capacity to analyse the political and social environment
-Knowledge of legal matters an advantage
-Independent, self motivated, dynamic and ability to work in a team
-Good computer skills
-Valid driving License
General Duties & Responsibilities:
-Contributes to the conception of objectives and strategies related to Communication activities, in liaison with the Communication Coordinator in Jerusalem and the two program managers and under the supervision of the Head of Office;
-Supervise the implementation and running of communication programmes;
-Channels all relevant information related to the context, in general and in specific surroundings (environment scanning and context analysis);
-Maintains contacts with authorities, security services, youth movements, local Red Cross/Red Crescent branches, civil society, media, etc.
-Prepares reports and statistics on activities
In accordance with the Resolution No. 17, 2010 of the Ramallah Ministry of Interior, applicants who have a running contract with a Ministry will not be selected.
