Communication Officer
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect lives and dignity of victims of
armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.
The ICRC also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening the humanitarian
law and universal humanitarian principles.
The ICRC in Jerusalem is looking for qualified candidates to fill in the following position
Function : Communication Officer - Public affairs in Jerusalem
Place of employment : Jerusalem
Occupation rate : 100% - Full time
Type of Contract : Unlimited
Starting Date : 01 November 2013
Main duties and responsibilities
-Promotion of the ICRC and its work among diverse audiences in Jerusalem's political,
-religious and civil society in the framework of ICRC’s strategic Prevention and
-communication program
-Relationship-building and networking with Israeli and Arab political, religious and civil society
groups
-Contributes to designing and implementing programs and events for identified audiences
-Contributes to the formulation of strategies to address ICRC's positioning and visibility
-Contributes to department /project/program reporting and administration
Education and experience requirements
-Background in political or civil society advocacy, lobbying or public affairs
-University degree
-A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in related fields
Profile and skills required
-Knowledge of International Humanitarian Law and the Red Cross/Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement an advantage
-Personal commitment to humanitarian concepts
-In-depth understanding and awareness of Arab and Israeli political, religious and civil society
stakeholders in Jerusalem
-Fluent in spoken and written Arabic, English and Hebrew
-Very good computer skills, incl. spreadsheets
-Excellent analytical and writing skills
-Confirmed capacity to analyse the political and social environment
-Excellent communication and presentation skills
-Clean driving license
