Job Title: Communication Officer

Reports to: oPt Advocacy Manager

Funding ensured until: 31/12/2016

PREMIERE URGENCE INTERNATIONALE (PUI) is an international, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit French organization intervening in 20 countries worldwide to provide a global response on the fundamental needs to victims of humanitarian crisis from the emergency to the restoration of their autonomy and dignity. Première Urgence and Aide Médicale Internationale merged in 2011 to offer a better range of lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to communities affected by humanitarian crisis.

SCOPE OF WORK: Under, the supervision of the oPt Advocacy Manager. (S)he will be in charge of ensuring the follow up communication activities. (S)he will supervise the wide range of communication’s activities and visibility namely: the supervision of publications’ production; the organization of events; maintenance of databases; edition for social media and publications. (S)he will show reactivity, accuracy and make sure the work is delivered on time. (S)he will support the work of the Advocacy department, the Quality department, The Operation department, and the general Management of the Mission as per the needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Follow up of communication plan & media campaign:
(S)he will be in charge of ensuring the implementation of the on-going communication plan of the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) program in collaboration with PUI’s local partner, Women for Life.
 
-Design & production of statements and reports in English/Arabic/French:
-(S)he will be in charge of writing statements/reports to be sent to media / donors in order to inform them about a specific event organized by PUI.
-(S)he will be in charge of producing one photo book in Arabic, English and French in collaboration with PUI local partner, Women for life (WEE program). The purpose of this photo book will be to highlight the journey of some women who took part in the program and their personal achievements as a result of the action.
-(S)he will be responsible for the edition of a bi-monthly newsletter on settler violence. (S)he will be in charge of editing some success stories in close collaboration with the M&E department and / or Advocacy Manager.
 
Contact with local, regional & national media in the West Bank:
-(S)he will be in charge of maintaining and updating a database with contacts of local, national & international media (TV, Radio, Press).
-(S)he will make sure that media cover specific activities implemented by PUI such as Summer camp; distribution of uniforms to children etc.
 
Organization of events:
-(S)he will support the Operational & Quality departments in the preparation of conferences and any other events.

 

Supervising the production of visibility tools:
-(S)he will be in charge of preparing / supporting the operational team & other members of the Advocacy and Communication Department as well as quality department for any visibility tools to be produced linked to the projects implemented by PUI such as publications; audiovisual; posters; banners; agricultural guidelines; calendars (etc).

-(S)he will be in charge of taking pictures during the activities implementation and to maintain a pictures database.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor (training, etc).

REQUIREMENTS:

Education
-University degree in Communication/ Public relations / Journalism / English or any other related field.

Experience
-At least 5 years previous experience in communication and/or reporting field.

Skills & abilities
-Being available in case of workload, to work under pressure and to respect deadlines.
-Fluency in Arabic and English.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills in Arabic, English. French appreciated.
-Excellent computer skills, including Graphic & Photo software.
-Excellent capacity to speak in front of media (TV, radio).
-Strong and proven capacity in diplomatically working among an integrated multi-cultural project team.
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-Accuracy.
-Flexibility, adaptability, culturally sensitivity, sense of humor.
-Familiar with NGO work.
-Clean driving license & ability to move round through all the West Bank & Jerusalem.
