Communication Officer
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC Delegation in Israel and the Occupied Territories (IL/OT), is recruiting a talented, energetic, and engaged candidate for the following position:
Communication Officer
Place of Employment : Ramallah
Contract duration : 1 Year contract, renewable
Trial period : 3 months
Occupation rate : 100%
Job Grade : B2
Starting Date : January 2025
The Communication Field Officer contributes to designing, planning, and implementing communication projects and activities in coordination with the management of the field sub-structure and/or communication or communication/prevention manager. S/he contributes to representing the ICRC externally and building the necessary understanding and acceptance of and support for the ICRC among key stakeholders.
The Communication Officer:
- Contributes to defining communication and, where relevant, prevention objectives, strategies and plans of action for the geographic area or programme covered.
- Implements relevant activities and develops tools for: operational communication, community engagement, promoting international humanitarian law (IHL), building National Red Cross/Red Crescent Society communication capacity, public and digital communication, information analysis/environment scanning, interaction with religious circles, public affairs, and resource mobilization.
- Follows political, security, military, and humanitarian developments, as well as other issues relevant to the ICRC's reputation/perception and capacity to operate in the geographic area covered.
- Interprets and translates from and into the local language to support communication programmes when required.
- Provides technical and administrative support to the communication team when required.
- Supports the leadership and Management in networking with relevant stakeholders and represents the ICRC to various audiences.
- Supports communication-related training and coaching for field-structure staff and/or other departments when needed.
- Drafts Minutes of Meetings for meetings for which he is directly in charge.
- Provides regular and timely reports all dissemination sessions and workshops that are under his direct responsibility.
- Always ensures the availability of an updated registry with detailed statistics of workshops/disseminations carried out.

Education & professional experience:
- University degree on relevant field such as communication, Political science, international relations, or Journalism.
- Excellent command of English.
- Computer proficiency with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, familiarity with digital communication tools.
- Some relevant experience in similar fields of activities.
- Sound knowledge of the political and social media environment in the country/region covered.
- Valid Driving License – Manual is an asset.
