Communication Specialist
Communication Specialist
for the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Project
The World Health Organization office in West Bank and Gaza, is implementing “ The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Project in West Bank and Gaza”, funded by the European Commission from 2007-2010. We intend to recruit a communication specialist, part time position (3 days a week), to be based at the WHO office in Jerusalem.
The main objectives of the communication specialist role is to assist the Mental Health project in improving the public understanding of mental health and mental illnesses through an education campaign and to develop a raising awareness strategy. Also to develop and implement a visibility plan for all the activities of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the mental health project manager at WHO, the communication specialist is responsible:
• To develop a short documentary film on mental health.
• To develop and produce a booklet on different stories for patients at the mental health
hospital.
• Develop and produce educational brochures.
• Produce Press releases when there are special events and launches.
• Organising a public education campaign with other key stakeholders. Organise conferences and workshops in public institutions across the West Bank and Gaza.
• Writing articles for publications in English and Arabic.
• Conducting interviews with related mental health key stakeholders.
• Implementing visibility activities for the mental health project.
• Assisting family associations in designing and producing community raising awareness
material.
Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in communication, or social sciences.
• At least 3 years experience in communication, journalism or social sciences.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.
• Experienced user of MS Word.
• Highly motivated, efficient, team worker, flexible, demonstrates initiative.
Duration of contract: One year.
