The Palestine Information Technology Association of Companies (PITA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of “Communications and Membership Coordinator”.
Background on PITA
Palestinian Information Technology Association of Companies – PITA is the voice of the ICT sector in Palestine. It has more than 180 member companies working in different ICT sectors such as software and outsourcing sector, hardware sector, training and consultancy sector, Internet and telecommunications sectors.
PITA is the reference and representative association of private ICT sector. PITA was founded in 1999 by a group of Palestinian entrepreneurs as a non-profit organization to advance the interests and positive societal impact of Palestine’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. A new generation of forward-thinking entrepreneurs with a heritage that takes them back thousands of years in history is bringing together profound change to the technology and startup landscape. Having the vision towards “A nation nurturing innovation and contributing to world knowledge” and the mission “To lead the ICT sector towards an innovation-based economy”.
PITA offers its members a wide range of exclusive services that help leverage members’ investments and facilitate information exchange among them. Through its varied programs, PITA provides a multitude of services which are aimed at promoting and facilitating the exchange of knowledge, information and deal flow with its members. It also recognizes the need for capacity building where we help companies with technical skills, soft skills training, access to markets, and legal and HR advise. Adding to that; PITA’s committees are comprised of PITA dedicated members that are specialized in certain aspects of the ICT sector. These committees are devoted to the development of the sector by offering specialized consultancy and following up with different stakeholders in the Palestinian economy. Under this framework; PITA seeks a Communications and Membership Coordinator that his/her major functions can be summarized with as follow:
Position Profile:
The Communications and Membership Coordinator takes the lead in a number of initiatives and activities especially the coordination of the PITA’s members and sub-committees; particularly the internal and external communications with the public and the private sectors, supporting the various structures at all levels in building an ICT brand visibility. It involves intensive work with PITA’s members and committees.
The coordinator will develop and implement PITA’s advocacy and lobbying strategy and will be responsible for delivering on key objectives related to communications and external stakeholder engagement and membership. This will include leading the development and implementation of a strategy for communicating, and will also develop and implement a strategy for outreach with PITA’s members and for membership development. furthermore; the coordinator will be responsible for establishing and maintaining successful and cooperative relationships with PITA’s main beneficiaries and stakeholders, consolidating information correctly; committed to delivering concise, relevant, interesting and targeted content that pique their IT interests and specific areas of coverage.
Reporting Line: PITA’s General Manager.
Main duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Strategic and Membership Management:
- Develop and implement a strategy to ensure regular and effective communication with different PITA’s members to support PITA’s advocacy, learning and capacity building, as well as to promote other relevant members’ activities (using tools including PITA’s website, newsletter, and social media etc.).
- Develop a membership outreach strategy for PITA’s members.
- Actively identify potential new members among the ICT sector.
- Manage the membership process for new and the old members to ensure they are easily integrated into the mailing lists and receive other communications.
- Manage databases of members, partners and stakeholders and ensure up-to-date profiles of PITA’s members on the website.
- Identify and develop opportunities for members to showcase and communicate their work at external events.
- Prepare summary reports and policy and position papers on PITA’s members’ and its committees’ activities to be shared with other members and the Board of Directors.
- Develop an overview document outlining PITA’s membership profile (including regional distribution, key activities and thematic focus across the membership base).
- Work with PITA to manage its website, including regular refreshes and reviews of its effectiveness, as required.
- Where feasible, offer strategic communications advice to members to maximize their advocacy impact.
Communication and Outreach Tasks:
- Supporting digital activities in the campaigns and ICT-based accountability activities with the Municipality.
- Deepen and refine all aspects of advocacy and communications with the governmental and the official bodies and ministries.
- Crafting persuasive collateral content for various audiences.
- Working on internal and external communication, community outreach, and media relations to elevate and maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of community.
- Evaluating campaigns to ensure they are compatible with ongoing IT efforts, and gauging public opinion.
- Liaising with colleagues and the implementing partners and key spokespeople and stakeholders.
- Performing any other relevant duties as assigned by PITA.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience (minimum three years) in strategic communications/ marketing, public relations and stakeholder engagement in the development, energy or other related sectors.
- Educated to at least Bachelors’ degree level in a relevant field such as mass communication, media, journalism, or in an ICT field with a communications specialization.
- Experience of engaging with membership organizations.
- The ability to articulate ideas in a clear, visual and concise way for a variety of audiences using both traditional and digital mediums
- Proven ability to develop consensus policy positions and write high-quality policy and position papers.
- Ability to work, communicate and advocate with a broad range of stakeholders including policymakers, government officials, NGOs, the media and community representatives.
- Experience using and/or organizing media relations, web/mobile/social media, print and public events.
- Experience of managing databases & online communication tools.
- Excellent knowledge in projects; coordination and management.
- Excellent analytical skills and fluency in English and Arabic with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in Public Relations and Corporate Communications.
- Excellent knowledge in Website Management.
- Strong working experience of a variety of public relations programs.
- Problem solving, logic thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
