Communications Assistant
The British Consulate General in Jerusalem is seeking an individual for the position of Communications Assistant. This is a Full Time, Temporary Contract (Maternity leave cover - 3 months contract).
Purpose of the job:
Implementing all aspects of the Consulates digital communications activities and assisting the Communications Manager in carrying out public diplomacy campaigns.
Duties and responsibilities:
-Ensure that all BCG activities are fully and timely disseminated through the Consulates digital platforms, while promoting and maintaining the Consulates Facebook page with fresh, lively and interactive content on a daily basis.
-Assist in carrying out digital campaigns to achieve the consulate and wider FCO objectives and report to the Communications Manager on feedback and participation for evaluation purposes.
-Translate web stories from English to Arabic (or vice versa) and ensure that content is featured equally on English and Arabic websites.
-Take photographs and record videos of events and visits throughout the West Bank for use on the website and the Consulates social media channels.
-Contribute to the successful delivery of consulate-wide public diplomacy projects which correspond to BCGs local communications strategy.
Skills Required:
Essential:
-Excellent Communication skills in English and Arabic oral and written.
-Excellent editorial skills with a sound understanding of writing for the web and engaging online audiences.
-Experience in digital campaigns.
-Excellent knowledge of social media trends and excellent web publishing skills
-Excellent IT skills especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
-Strong interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
-Good photography skills.
-Good knowledge in design and image-editing software.
-Good knowledge in video editing software
-Knowledge of digital trends, particularly of Palestinian internet landscape.

Eligibility:
The successful candidate should hold or must be able to secure a local work permit.
Candidate must be able to travel around the West Bank.
