Communications Officer
The Finance for Jobs (F4J) Project is a four years economic development program implemented by DAI on behalf of the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MOFP) and funded by World Bank. The Finance for Jobs (F4J) Project is the first project in an anticipated Series of Projects that includes as its overarching objective the mobilization of private investment and achievement of job outcomes in the West Bank and Gaza through the deployment of innovative financing instruments that crowd in private investment.
DAI is seeking highly qualified candidates for the following position:
Communications Officer
Responsibilities
-Develop, execute and monitor a communications strategy;
-Increase coverage and understanding of the Finance for Jobs project through maintenance of regular contact with project stakeholders including government, private sector and media;
-Ensure effective responses to inquiries for public information materials;
-Write/produce/disseminate communications materials as needed such as brochures, Q&As, web stories, blogs, factsheets, presentations, speeches and talking points;
-Organize and represent the project as needed at roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, launches, site visits, etc.;
-Assist the Project Manager in communications strategy and plans and assist the Development Impact Bond Adviser in promoting understanding of the rationale and operational mechanism of the Development Impact Bonds;
-Liaise with donors and UN agencies for regular information about their media and outreach activities, compiling a calendar of media events, and circulating this information;
-Translate key communications documents into Arabic or English, as needed;
-Identify and evaluate the opinion, perception and expectations of the communities, local authorities and local organizations (stakeholders) regarding the program.
Qualifications
-Degree in journalism, communications, business, international development, or related discipline;
-Minimum of two-four years of work experience in the fields of communications or journalism;
-Proven commitment to and work experience in economic development and market-based solutions to poverty;
-Experience organizing briefings and events preferred;
-Superior organization and time management skills and a track record of delivering high-quality products;
-Ability to work independently with limited supervision while also functioning as part of a team;
-Excellent proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word;
-Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English and Arabic;
-Experience in web development and online media strategy preferred (but not required).
