Communications/PR Assistant

Job Description
organization working in Palestine since 1968, is announcing the following position based in its
Jerusalem office, under the Emergency and Water Sanitation (EWASII) program, a project funded by
the United States Agency for Development (USAID) which is scheduled to extend until 2013.
Communications/PR Assistant

Minimum Qualifications:
-A Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, international development,
marketing, or related social science field is required.
-At least one to two years of experience working in related fields, preferably within an NGO environment.
-Must have native Arabic level of fluency (spoken and written) with a good understanding of English (spoken and written).
-Must have strong written skills and analytical capabilities, with the ability to write creatively and
report accurately, including documents such as success stories, factsheets, press releases, etc.

Duties:
-Assist in maintaining primary contact with media and communications offices and disseminating
information to them.
-Assist in organizing events to celebrate the inauguration or completion of projects in conjunction
with project beneficiaries
-Assist in creative development, writing and distribution of the EWAS II Program’s accomplishments - writing of success stories, reports, factsheets, press releases, etc.
-Participate in designing and implementing communications campaigns to support specific project components and/or partner agencies programs
-Translate text, mainly from English to Arabic.

Required Abilities and Skills:
-Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to balance working well in a team environment with initiative and creativity.
-Ability to multitask and work to deadlines.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Windows package, including PowerPoint.
Preferable:
-Possession of a driving license
-Interest/experience in photography.
-Ability to use Adobe In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Light Room
-Proven experience in events planning and execution is highly desirable.
